Written and Directed by Adam Green, Hatchet is a modern day slasher film about a group of tourists who decide to go on a “haunted swamp tour” in the Bayous of New Orleans only to find themselves stranded in the woods after their tour boats sinks. Little do they realize that Victor Crowley, the resurrected spirit of a deformed boy who was accidentally killed by his father after his father tried to save him from the flames of their burning cabin, is hiding in the woods just waiting for a fresh piece of meat.
When I first saw this film back in 2006, I thought it was the most inventive slasher flick I’ve ever seen. The kills were creative, the killer’s story was very creative and the whole overall plot of the movie was just phenomenal to me and honestly, who doesn’t love gore?
This is not a very long review because part of me feels as if words cannot quite describe how brilliantly made this film was. I absolutely love it and I recommend it to all horror lovers far and wide.
