In a Galaxy not so far away, a game company released a beta of one of the most awaited games in the last 10 years. That beta was for Star Wars Battlefront.

Well has all the waiting been worth it? Or is it all been for nothing?

Well...

Again Decision time. Video with gameplay! Otherwise scroll on down for the article.

Just to start off, I need to get this out.

OH MY GOD!!!!! STAR WARS!!!!!!!

Alright now that I got that out of the way, here are my first impressions.

For starters, the graphics are amazing. I mean I felt like I literally was watching a scene from the films. I mean my god, these graphics sucked me right in, I mean talk about immersion. Any fan of the series will fall in love with the presentation. The set pieces are there, the music is superb, this is what you expect and dream a Star Wars game to feel like.

Lets move on to the gameplay.

It's battlefield. Anyone that wanted this game to feel like the old Battlefront games, I am sorry, but this game truly feels like Battlefield. Now by no means is this a bad thing. Also I am not saying that this game is just a re-skinned battlefield game. There are enough changes in game to make it a unique true Star Wars experience. All the weapons are Star Wars centric, also there is no more reloading, all of your weapons recharge. You can even play as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in the form of an arcade style collectible you find out in the battlefield. Also all of the vehicles are of course from Star Wars. The flying felt odd at first, but once you get the hang of it, it feels good, but not great. Also the game modes reflect objectives that make sense in the Star Wars universe. Again saying this, I have to hammer in the point that it does feel like a Battlefield game with a Star Wars spin to it, which it is. Originally this worried me when first seeing it at E3, but now playing it, I loved it.

Now lets talk about the online servers. Many comments in my past videos have pointed out that I don't talk about some connectivity issues that arise in games, sorry about that, I guess it never really bothers me, especially when it is a Beta. But in the case of this game, I noticed. I have never seen such seamless matchmaking before. I mean seriously, I click the button to start a game, within that same second I was already in a lobby waiting for the match to start. Of course this is expected since they are using the same servers that were used for past Battlefield games. All I can say if the Beta works this great, I see no reason for the retail version to be just like this.

So far we are only given two game modes with two maps. My favorite so far is Hoth. Again looking glorious as hell, and the battle gets hectic when you are in a server with the max 20 vs 20. I loved how intense it got. One moment I am turning a corner in the base to see some rebel scum. Next I have a Tie fighter crash landing right in front of me. Only issue I had was there was an abundance of Spawn killing. This got annoying after a while when all you wanted to do was get back into the fight. Hopefully this will be corrected in the future with more added spawn points or something. Overall online is a blast to play and just seeing all of the blocked off content, just hypes me up even more for the retail version of the game.

Now I wanted to mention the survival mission included. The map that is used is Tatooine, and again my lord. The lighting in this is beautiful, to me this by far the best looking map, and really showcases how the creators are pushing the graphics to the max. Other than that, the gameplay was your regular run of the mill Horde mode, but I honestly had the most fun with this. I don't know why, just the empowering feeling you get mowing down storm trooper after Storm trooper. I really cannot wait to see what else they have in store for us in the way of missions. Not only that, you can play them co-op online and even my favorite co-op splitscreen.

Overall this is an amazing experience that satisfies your gaming needs, as well as your love for that Galaxy far far far away.

If this Beta is a clear representation of we will get with the final product, then I am leaving my village and joining the rebel alliance.
