Starwars has returned with new faces, new heroes, new villains, and a new style. The sci-fi Juggernaut franchise is set to grace cinemas when the Force Awakens hits theaters. Starwars has been at the front off pop-culture, and there's no better time to be a starwars fan or sci-fi fan than now since the beloved franchise will be taking over theaters when it comes out in December. We have members of the the old cast coming back to pass the torch to a younger generation of heroes who will be tasked with saving the galaxy.
Here's the plot synopsis:
Set approximately 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and features new leads Finn, Rey, and Poe Dameron alongside characters returning from previous Star Wars films.
That's a short synopsis. Most likely because that's supposed to add to the mystery surrounding the movie, and probably what prompts starwars fans to practice the ritual of "trailer-dodging" in order to avoid the dreaded "spoilers".
Fans have been clamoring for this film for a while and have been speculating and discussing possible plot points for the film, and how the story will continue while introducing new worlds and new perspectives. Our main characters Finn, Rey, and Poe Dameron will offer different viewpoints about the universe they reside in, and we could see conflict between them as they try to come together for a life or death under-taking that will determine the fate of galaxy. First, we have Finn, described as a former storm-trooper who comes to the realization that "the first order" is evil and that he has been fighting on the wrong side. He will later encounter Rey, Described as an independent, clever, and resourceful scavenger who is placed in danger when she comes across a dazed and out-of-breath Finn who appears to be an object of a manhunt while he is pursued by the First Order. Finally, we have Poe Dameron, who is described "a dashing resistance pilot on a special mission". He sounds like an interesting character who could go either way in terms of being a hot-head or a razor-focused, man-on-a-mission type character. Definitely an interesting trio of characters.
Based on the stark contrasts between Poe and Finn, It seems like there will be an inevitable conflict between the two of them. The very fact that Finn was associated with the Empire will set off an alarm in the mind of Poe, who will have a hard time trusting Finn, given his former affiliation. Poe seems like he believes strongly in the Resistance's cause and he might not be a fan of the idea of fighting side-by-side with a former storm-trooper, which he could see as a potential liability. If Finn and Poe do indeed butt heads, Rey will no doubt become the mediator who eventually gets them to come to a mutual understanding. Keep in mind that this theory is based on the trailer and the character descriptions that we've been given, It's not set in stone, and the story could go in a completely different direction.
Force awakens is a crucial film since it will help set the "expected tone" for the movies that follow. By the time this movie comes to an end, when the dust settles, and when you see the characters left standing in the aftermath, we'll start trying to piece together the next film, and how the characters will change and evolve throughout the next installment. Characters and storylines aside, It's unlikely that this film will do bad financially, since good or bad, these films have never bombed at the box-office, under-performed, but never bombed. Young or old, Starwars will continue to excite fans for years to come whether it's on the small screen or the big screen. The franchise is here to stay and pretty soon you'll get to travel to a galaxy far,far away when Starwars: the Force Awakens lands in theaters on December 18th, 2015.
