The Walking Dead Season 6 starts tonight and promises to be yet another exciting emotional roller coaster.
“It’s getting intense finally,” joked Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead comic, at New York Comic-Con Thursday.
We left Rick, Carl and the rest of our favorite survivors at Alexandria after Rick’s controversial decision to violently solve a problem. We know that there are threats waiting outside of the safe zone, but it may be the threats inside of the city’s walls that are the most dangerous to the group.
“This is going to be the most intense season of The Walking Dead yet,” Kirkman said. “The first few episodes just hit the ground running.”
This season will also see a fan favorite character play a much larger role in this new dynamic between Rick’s group and the natives of Alexandria.
“It’s great seeing Rick interact with these people that have lived in this safe place and have this misconception of how the world works now, and all the conflict that comes from that,” Kirkman said. “We’re going to have a lot more of that in Season 6, but we’re also going to get Morgan thrown into the mix."
Kirkman also touched on some of the popular aspects of the comics that we are yet to see in the show. There are a few characters and events that fans want to see on-screen.
“I can’t answer that,” Kirkman said when asked if we would see any of the other settlements outside of Alexandria. “But good try.”
One specific character people have been wanting to see is the popular villain Negan.
“I think it would be very, very cool if Negan was introduced into the show,” Kirkman said. “I don’t know when that would happen. I mean I do but I can’t say.”
There is plenty to be excited about for the future of The Walking Dead and it all starts tonight.
