Kathryn Eastwood (Jersey Boys), younger sister of Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad, Fury, The Longest Ride) and the first of Clint Eastwood's daughters to be named Miss Golden Globe, will have the World Premiere of her first horror film this Thursday at the Lausanne Underground Film and Music Festival. Her film, American Virus, also stars Shane Ryan (Samurai Cop 2) and Tommie Vegas (The Interrogation of Cheryl Cooper, The Trust). Ryan and Eastwood co-wrote the script, with Ryan directing.
Eastwood actually rehearsed and filmed American Virus (budgeted at under 100 bucks) the same week her father took his 550 million dollar grossing film, American Sniper, to the Oscars. Their film is part of the zombie anthology, Virus of the Dead, from UK based producer Tony Newton. Newton's segment, Cam Girl, stars Mhairi Calvey, who recently returned to acting after nearly 20 years since her debut film role in Mel Gibson's Braveheart.
American Virus will screen on Thursday as well as Saturday. Ryan will also see the release of another anthology he directed a segment for, Theatre of the Deranged II, released this Tuesday by Troma. Ryan's segment is a Japanese ghost story entitled Oni-Gooko (Tag). Samurai Cop 2 (which Ryan co-produced, and co-stars in along with Bai Ling, Mindy Robinson and Tommy Wiseau) opened in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Theatres last Friday and will continue its theatrical run around the country for the next couple of months, including release dates set for Portland, New York City, Denver, and Austin.
