Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is set to be one of the most influential superhero introductions of the next few years: after decades of bouncing the character around Hollywood, [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](tag:711870) will finally debut Wonder Woman on the big screen. It's no surprise that expectations are high for Gal Gadot, and despite the fact that Batman vs Superman has yet to be released, her portrayal of the Amazon hero has already come under fire.

"I'll kick your ass!"

Criticised for being too slim to properly represent the super strong Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot has had to defend herself against plenty of hate running up to the film's release. While it's true that a taller, more muscle bound Wonder Woman would be a better representation of the comics, the criticisms should be directed firmly at the film's creators rather than Gadot herself. Gadot seems dedicated to properly portray such a heroic icon, and is determined to do Diana Prince justice...

"I wanted to play a women that is strong and will be a source for women empowerment. I don’t want to play a damsel in distress that needs to be saved. I don’t like it when women in the movies are shown as the victims. I want to show the strong side of a woman and how she can handle tough situations. And now I get to play the strongest most empowering woman ever – Wonder Woman!"

Gadot has also embarked on a fierce training regimen to get her ready for the role. In response to the criticism, she sharply reminds people that she served in the Isreali military, and has retorted "I'm super strong! I'll kick your ass!" This combination of a take-no-sh*t attitude along with a respect for the origins of Wonder Woman and the importance of her role to inspire people really sets Gal Gadot up as the perfect actor for Diana Prince.

But there are plenty more pitfalls for that could mean Wonder Woman might become nothing but a tired stereotype...

Another Love Triangle?

Love triangles are all the rage nowadays. They provide a bit of tension, they titillate the viewers, and they spark discussion. They're also usually really really boring in the way they're written, with two sides of the triangle competing for one person's affection. And most annoyingly of all, a love triangle tends to reduce the female character to the love object for men to bicker over. Considering Wonder Woman has been involved with both Batman and Superman in the comics, there's a definite threat that we might see this in Dawn Of Justice.

Batman and Superman have history with Wonder Woman

Rumours have been flying about a Superman/Wonder Woman/Batman love triangle since the film was announced. Thankfully though, there doesn't seem to be much of a case for this actually happening in Batman vs Superman for a number of reasons.

Firstly, there doesn't seem to be room for it in the plot - it looks like the majority of screentime will be taken up by a debate over the responsibility of superheroes, as Lex Luthor expertly manipulates the heroes into a fight, and Wonder Woman casually saves the day while the men are distracted (ok, that's just my dream plot, but it's a possibility). Secondly, Superman already has a lady love... though this hasn't stopped fans asking Amy Adams if a Lois/Diana/Supes triangle will happen. Her response was pretty fantastic.

"I hope that I can be involved with a woman on screen where we’re not in a love triangle. That would be fun. Maybe where we team up together and we work as teammates instead of adversaries."

The idea of a Lois/Wonder Woman team up has me excited, but it's doubtful there will be time for this in Dawn Of Justice.

Reducing Wonder Woman to a love interest for the men would be a pretty terrible way for her final big screen debut to happen, but at least a love triangle seems doubtful. There does seem to be some kind of chemistry between Diana and Bruce though, if this picture is anything to go by...

But again, the time frame of the film seems to cast any kind of romance between them into doubt. This might be laying track for a future relationship between them, but it's unlikely we'll see anything other than sexual tension until their next duo appearance in Justice League Part One. Which just leaves more time for Wonder Woman to kick butt and save the day in Dawn Of Justice!
