Today, we learn that Damian Darhk, the "big bad" of Arrow this season, will appear in both [DC's Legends of Tomorrow](tag:2937021) and The Flash. While his presence on The Flash is a total surprise, him appearing on Legends is not farfetched.

Indeed, Darhk presents a lot of similarities with the "big bad" of Legends, the immortal caveman Vandal Savage. And unlike one of my fellow writer, I don't see them as enemies.

First, they both have a pretty unusual relationship with death. Damian Darhk used the water he stole from the Lazarus Pit for decades, while Vandal Savage lived for centuries since the beginning of mankind. It wouldn't be much of a surprised that a man like Darhk drew the attention of Savage. They probably know each other for a long time already. In the comics, Savage worked with Ra's-Al-Ghul and I even wonder if the Lazarus Pit doesn't have a link with the meteorite that gave Savage his powers.

As Neal McDonough said we'll get to see Damian Darhk on Legends long before he become the man we met on Arrow:

You go back to the League -- I did an episode of Legends last week -- and I look exactly the same in 1975 but you see he's not as confident and doesn't have such an agenda forty years ago as he does now. So it's fun to play the different times, you know? Going back in time with Legends, and The Flash, with The Flash, I'm just this crazy, fun, enjoy everything while I kill everybody type of character. It's just nuts."

So expect his appearance to be connected with Vandal Savage one way or another. McDonough said that his character wasn't as confident forty years earlier. So what change ? Could he have met someone who gave purpose to his life ?

Then, while talking to Captain Lance, during the Arrow's Season 4 Premiere, Darhk said something that caught my attention:

"I want him off the boards by the time my associates arrive."

Darhk talked about his associates meaning he's not working alone and is maybe not the real man in charge at HIVE. His words looked like he's accountable to someone else. That could establish a really interesting connection between the two TV shows, the destruction of Star City being only one step in Vandal Savage bigger plans.

If we wanted to go further, we could even find possible links between Savage and Zoom. With his knowledge, it seems completely possible that he is aware of the existence of alternative Earths. Thus, an association between Zoom and Savage is not impossible, adding even more threat for all three shows.

Needless to say, knowing Savage usual ambition, he won't stop at one universe and wants surely to have it all. Darhk appearing on The Flash, we could likewise, see Zoom do the trip to Star City. I'd love to have a kind of alliance between the villains, it could provide really great storytelling.

I really have the feeling the writers are trying to have a very more organic story between their shows, with a lot more crossovers and connections among their characters. The next couple of weeks will definitely be an indicator of where the writers want to direct their universe, and I'm sure we'll got some answers.

The Flash & Arrow air Tuesdays and Wednesdays on The CW.
