We've known for some months now that a 'Friday the 13th' video game was in the works. But as October got closer, I began to worry if we'd actually see this game be released at all. Thankfully we were reassured this morning with this exciting news!
Who's Playing Jason?!
Cutting right to the chase, Kane Hodder has officially returned to play Mr. Voorhees in the brand new video game! Don't know who Kane Hodder is? (shame on you!) He's the actor who turned Jason into the vicious, beastly being he is today! Which means it won't be very easy playing around Crystal Lake without getting scared.
The music for the game will even be scored by franchise regular, Harry Manfredini. As if things weren't already perfect...
What's This Game About?
This is the second official game made for the Friday The 13th franchise, and it already sounds awesome! Here's some of what we should expect from it.
Friday the 13th: The Game is an online, asymmetric multiplayer experience where one player will assume the role of Jason Voorhees against seven other players assuming the roles of camp counselors trying to survive the night.
I've also read that they are putting a real emphasis on letting players PLAY AS JASON. Can you imagine how fun it's gonna be to run around slaughtering your friends and kid's online? I still can't wrap my head around it...
What I Hope They Put Into The Game!
How incredible would it be to unlock multiple looks for Jason throughout the game? Maybe you'd have to kill a certain amount of teenagers in a short time to unlock the sack-head Jason from Friday The 13th Part II? Or maybe after we beat the game we can unlock his mom to play with? How about unlocking other stages like Elm Street or Manhattan? And finally, I'd love to see some random Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, easter eggs. Just to make people go crazy!
What Other Horror Movie Icons Need Video Games?
Jason is breaking down barriers for popular Horror icons right now... as far as video games are concerned. So who's gonna follow his lead? Will Michael Myers make a return to Haddonfield in interactive form? Or maybe Chucky will come back to stalk Andy in Child's Play: The Game. One can only hope, but at least we know it isn't impossible.
Here's The Trailer!
"It's been nearly 30 years since fans have had the opportunity to experience a Friday the 13th video game.” explained Sean S. Cunningham, creator of the Friday the 13th franchise. “Technology has finally reached a level that allows us to produce an experience fans of the franchise deserve. It's always been a dream of mine to let players fully BECOME Jason, and stalk camp counselors across a virtual Crystal Lake. I'm delighted we're able to bring this fantasy to life!"
