The popular video game franchise is officially set to make its live-action premiere in theaters next year! The motion picture will be featuring the well-known Steve Jobs and X-Men star Michael Fassbender. The head of content at Ubisoft, Azaïzia Aymar, had the opportunity to roam around the set of the upcoming film. Even though Azaïzua wasn't able to share much online, he did send out a pretty epic tweet!
For those who aren't aware, Abstergo is the fictional company in the universe of Assassin's Creed that is ruled over by the immoral Templars. From looking at the set photo, one would assume that Abstergo Industries will serve as the main antagonist in the upcoming film as they were in the video game franchise.
New story, but same universe?
For the fans, Azaïzua also did a Q&A on the main franchise Twitter account. While not revealing too much, Azaïzua hinted on what fans should expect to see on the big screen and how the film will portray, as well as expand the Assassin's Creed universe differently than anything else.
We make the film appeal to existing fans by creating a new story but staying in our universe. A new experience consistent w/ our brand & DNA!
He revealed that Magneto...I mean Fassbender will be portraying two characters on-screen. In the modern day, he will be a man named 'Callum' and in the past, he will play a man named 'Aguilar'. Azaïzua teased the possibilty of seeing a few easter eggs when saying:
It’s possible you may find some familiar faces,
That tweet is most-likely going to leave fans on the edge of their seat for the entire film. Anybody could show up on-screen with such an immense universe of characters to choose from. Assassin's Creed has the potential to be the superb film fans have been waiting for ever since the first game was released back in 2007.
