Okay, guys, everyone already knows that Disney isn't joking around with these live-action adaptations of their movies.
With Maleficent and Cinderella completed and Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book, Pinocchio, Mulan, Dumbo, and more on the way, the studio is stacking their slate through 2020, and staking their claim on the films that made them one of the biggest film companies in the entertainment industry.
In the same vein as Maleficent, the next movie announced will take a closer look at a villain from an animated Disney classic One Hundred and One Dalmatians: Cruella de Vil.
Of course, this won't be the first time we've seen Cruella come to life. Disney fans will remember the live-action version of 101 Dalmatians from 1996 and 102 Dalmatians in 2000, starring Glenn Close as the dual-haired villainess.
Cruella was also brought to the smaller screen in the past season of Once Upon a Time. She was brought to Storybrooke in the episode 'Heroes and Villains' and is played by Victoria Smurfit.
Standing up to Glenn Close's performance would be daunting for anyone, but Disney undoubtedly makes some of the best casting calls in Hollywood, so I think we have little reason for concern.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Saving Mr. Banks and Fifty Shades of Grey writer, Kelly Marcel, will be pen the screenplay alongside Steve Zissis, the co-creator of Togetherness. It's also been confirmed that Disney is fast-tracking the film, but there's still no released date for when we can expect too see Cruella.
In the meantime, it looks as if we'll have plenty of live-action Disney movies to keep us happy!
