Ant-Man & The Wasp
So Marvel interrupts its current run of movies for Phase 3 and decides to throw in Ant-Man & The Wasp movie for summer of 2018. The Ant-Man of this past summer was a surprise hit and I didn't expect to like it as much as I did--it had humor, action and all the Marvel background that people love. This new movie would have the continuing adventurers of Hope Van Dyne and Scott Lang. This time, they both have super-suits allowing them to speak with various bugs, with Hope wearing a uniform her parents designed for her years ago. Speaking of the original Wasp, here's hoping that Hank Pym finds his wife (who would be the same age when she went into the tiny-sphere). Since Lego lied to us about ol' Hank suiting up in Ant-Man, let's hope he does it this time, going out like a hero. Also, let's not forget that a faction of HYDRA (separate from Ward's, but that's down the page) has a sample of the double-reverse-engineered Pym Particles that made the Yellowjacket. Some more people-shrinking fun!
Let's not forget that Ant-Man was the only superhero that came after Captain America, and before even Iron Man! There's bound to be a ton more background info there...
Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok
I am super excited for this news. In Age of Ultron, Bruce Banner asked where in the world can he go where the Hulk is not a threat. Well, Asgard apparently. Since he won't be in Civil War--here's hoping for Red Hulk--being in the next Thor is just as good. Imagine a green behemoth wreaking havoc on an Asgardian field of battle, or even plain Bruce walking around the spires of Asgard itself. Could Loki-as-Odin be using the Other Guy again to wreak havoc across the Nine Realms, resulting in Ragnarok? Maybe setting things up for Planet Hulk?
Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok
For some reason, I have a habit of casting Rhonda Rousey in my fan-cast movies. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I think she would make a killer Valkyrie from Asgard in Thor: Ragnarok. I know she's actively campaigning for the role of Captain Marvel, so she's not above acting in a comic-book movie.
Valkyrie's a warrior for Odin and Asgard. She's got a sword, Asgardian warrior armor and superhuman strength, flies around on a Pegasus. In the SHIELD comics, she's also worked with Coulson and company. The Valkyrie also decides who lives and who dies in battle. And the name of the upcoming Thor movie is subtitled Ragnarok, the end of the world. Rousey's good with her fists and a gun, now imagine her with a sword.
Jessica Jones poster and trailers
I know nothing about Jessica Jones, yet I can't wait for the Netflix show to come out next month. I'm digging the poster that came out of New York Comic Con, looks just like the Alias comics that I briefly checked out. But the trailers are doing it for me, cuz they're so cool. It's ordinary, everyday events like hitting the snooze button or coming home late at night, but with a superhero vibe.
Elektra in the Daredevil trailer
Marvel released the new trailer for the second season of Daredevil, and there was a brief shot of Elektra putting on a ninja-style face mask. The utterly unique and beautiful look of this actress (and her martial arts work in other movies) makes the wait even more unbearable for what she'll do in Daredevil.
The Punisher in the Daredevil trailer
The Punisher, Frank Castle, was even more briefly seen in the trailer as well. The back of his head and a skull x-ray thing, to be exact. The dedication of the actor to "becoming" Frank via comic book research is most commendable. Traditionally, the Punisher's way of doling out justice is completely different than Daredevil's.
Marvel's Most Wanted TV series
After seeing Bobbi and Hunter in Agents of SHIELD, I'm more excited than ever for a series of them going after SHIELD's Most Wanted.
Marvel's Damage Control TV series
I loved this comic series back in the '80's and '90's. It also apparently made a recent comeback and now they want to make it a TV series. It was about this NY-based company that cleaned up after the Marvel super-heroes. After all, when heroes fight villains, there's a big mess. Think about New York after the Chitauri Invasion, The Stark Expo, Harlem after the Hulk, even London and Wakanda. Maybe it starts out as the Stark Relief Fund? I can't see it being a serious series, maybe a half-hour show? Not sure how they'll proceed, but it should be cool.
Lash--the Inhuman's enforcer. He's now on Agents of SHIELD, killing new Inhumans and has a big role on next week's episode. He's strong, powerful and we don't know a damn thing about him. Makeup job looks cool, hope we get his back story before he became Inhuman. Did he get the call to kill everybody after Jiaying--Daisy's mom--died or before? Is he there to scale back the Inhuman presence on Earth, maybe culling the people who weren't made Inhuman by the Council--weeding out the unworthy?
I'm afraid to say I don't know much about DD villain Nuke except for a What-If story I read back in the day. He's psychotic, strong and has a US flag painted on his face. The above image pretty much says everything about the psycho. He'd make a great villain in Jessica Jones, perhaps as an Army Super-Soldier experiment -- one that either washed out of General Ross' program, or maybe a completely different military project that relies on experimental drugs. The TV show The Player had this great mask they used on a bank-robbing bad guy last week, maybe Marvel and Netflix can use this effect as well....
Over the past couple of weeks, there have been lots of rumors about our new Spider-man. It's been revealed he's at least 15 and has been swinging around NYC for about a year. He was known as an urban legend but has begun to have his presence known to the general population. Tony Stark made his web-shooters and will have at least two costumes--a homemade one, and an Avengers-style one. He will also "dorkily" fight Captain America during Civil War and end up on Tony's side.
Iron Man's Bleeding Edge Armor
According to some of the twitter posts I've seen from NYCC, it seems that Tony had some of his armor parts physically implanted in his body, making the armor a part of him more than ever. I'm also looking forward to the fight between him, Cap and Bucky. Two super-soldiers versus an Iron Man.
I love this idea. Bring a modern character back to 1946. A silver-screen, post-WWII actress who is secretly a genius and crime lord. A worthy adversary to go up against the SSR and Agent Peggy Carter. Like Agent Peggy, the men of this world and time will never see it coming. Actress Wynn Everett will be playing Madam Masque, she's been in a bunch of shows that I've seen, and I do recognize her. She does have that beautiful actress thing down pat. The character also has a husband on Agent Carter, and will probably hire that time period's Black Widow Dotty to do her dirty work. One thing I want to see is a reference to one of her movies in a modern SHIELD episode and lots of black and white footage of her on Agent Carter to establish what a big actor she was/is. That, and the Captain America Radio Program.
War Machine is back as an Avenger with an updated suit. I guess the "03" means the third iteration of the War Machine armor. This Japanese picture looks bad ass.
Ward and HYDRA
Ward makes a great villain, and it still hurts to think that he pretended to be one of the good guys during season one. Did you see him take out a bunch of bodyguards on that boat in the second episode? He's also trying to mentor young Von Strucker the same way Garrett mentored him, right down to the tacos. His new HYDRA is made up of toughs who can take a hit and paid in blood--a great adversary against Coulson's SHIELD. Can't wait to see him go up against Daisy Johnson--does he know she has powers and that she's not Skye anymore?
Ant-Man on Hawkeye's bow
All the rumors I've heard recently show that this scene from the comics is going to take place in Civil War. That killer image is from this site!
Can't wait to see David Tennant's creepy acting chops when he becomes a truly vile Marvel Villain in Jessica Jones. Still see him as good guy Doctor Who, but we know he can pull off villainy has he was one in a Harry Potter movie. This bad guy, Killgrave the Purple Man is a rapist who can take over people's minds and bodies, and apparently he's already gone after Jessica Jones. His voice alone will be worth hearing as a bad guy.
Bucky / Winter Soldier
Where has Bucky been since the end of Winter Soldier? He apparently has some form of PTSD from his time as a near-immortal assassin for HYDRA for 70+ years and will turn into a super hero along with his buddy Captain America. Looking forward to how they will do this in the movie.
To me, she'll always be Skye. I prefer the long hair, but she's pulling off what she's doing now. The gauntlets are great, but I don't want her to rely on her powers all the time. May trained her to be a great tactical SHIELD agent with guns and her fists, and before that, she was a self-trained computer hacker with all sorts of skills.
Civil War Trailer?
Come on, Marvel, let's do this!
