We may not be getting The Legend of Korra season 5 any time soon, but the comic continuation of the show is well on its way to blowing our minds! The comic was announced a few months ago, and promises to follow right on from season 4's finale, with no pesky time jumps! Some plot threads from the TV show will be picked up, as well as introducing new characters and revelations. And we're one step closer to the comic's release: the team have just announced the main artist for the graphic novel... and she's totally awesome!

Brittney Williams Joins The Team

The artist who will be continuing the Legend Of Korra legacy is Brittney Williams. And her art is pretty fantastic. Her DeviantArt showcases a lot of her work, while her Tumblr mostly features her ongoing project The Daily Planet Files. She's made waves in the internet community before, as her distinctive style gives iconic characters an interesting new dynamic. Check out her DC Samurai AU!

She's no stranger to the world of published comics either. Most recently, Brittney Williams has been working on Marvel Comics' ongoing Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat series. And so far her work has been very well received by the fans, which isn't surprising considering she manages to capture the personalities of the characters very well: her art is full of movement and emotion, and it's really a joy to see.

Brittney Williams definitely won't have any problems portraying Korra's feisty and combative character, and it's good to know that the Avatar is in good hands. A fan of the TV shows, Williams was quick to assure fans that she will respect the original material.

"I'm definitely going to stay true to the amazing style and tone that the Legend of Korra and the Avatar series have."

Dark Horse Comics even released some preview concept art by Williams... and Korra's sporting some serious muscle definition! Brittney Williams seems to have incorporated her classic style and use of movement into the work already, and we can't wait to see how this develops in a full comic series.

Brittney Williams will be collaborating with Legend Of Korra and Avatar: The Last Airbender creator Bryan Konietzko, who will also be writing the comic along with his partner Michael DiMartino. Williams was very enthusiastic to be working with the dynamic duo on this comic, though she also assured fans she'd be putting her own spin on the art style.

"The great Bryan Konietzko will be there to provide direction and inspiration! At the same time, animation and comics are very different. As opposed to a whole crew with a variety of tastes and styles working on an animated series, a comic usually has one artist. In that respect, I think my drawing style will probably show itself a bit!"

We've also had a few hints about what we can expect to see when the comic is published sometime next year...

Comic To Focus On Korra & Asami

After years of developing Korra and Asami's relationship, the Legend Of Korra season 4 finale confirmed what many of us had always suspected: that the two characters were slowly falling in love.

Of course there were restrictions to how oblique the creators could be, but Bryan Konietzko took to his Tumblr after the show aired in order to confirm that the two ladies were indeed in love.

"Korrasami is canon. You can celebrate it, embrace it, accept it, get over it, or whatever you feel the need to do, but there is no denying it. That is the official story. Korra and Asami fell in love. Were they friends? Yes, and they still are, but they also grew to have romantic feelings for each other."

Even more recently, the Legend Of Korra creative team revealed that the comic would develop this relationship, focusing on the romance between Korra and Asami. The comic will start right after their vacation to the Spirit World, which means we'll get plenty of reactions from the other characters when Korra and Asami reveal their romance.

As awesome as it will be to see Mako's reaction, I'm a bit disappointed that we won't get to see what adventures the women had together in the Spirit World. But at least we have Koneitzko's art to give us a peak into their time there!

This is painfully cute, and I can't wait to see more from Korra and Asami in the new comic book! We have no release date yet, but stay tuned: we should find out soon.
