While promoting his upcoming film, The Last Witch Hunter, Vin Diesel graciously geeked out over Groot, and speculated (as many of us do) about what he thought his character might be up to in [Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2](tag:1081113). In a chat with IGN, the actor highlighted a particular comic book origin power that he would love to see on the big screen.

... I can't give it away but I would love to see gigantic Groot. I'd love to throw him into a forest and see how much mass that he consumes after devouring all the trees. Imagine throwing him into Central Park in New York City. I just want to see Giant Groot.

Groot's ability to grow to massive sizes was first highlighted in his comic book origins, where consuming wildlife and water help him grow to massive proportions with multiple limbs. If you thought he was a powerhouse before, "Giant Groot" often proves to be an unstoppable force, and if he goes down -- he simply regenerates from a sprig once more.

While director James Gunn has been delighting himself while teasing fans, the idea of a Giant Groot going up against a huge enemy—or an army of little enemies—sounds awesome, so I'm holding out hope that we'll see the little sprout from the end of Guardians of the Galaxy turn into a crazy, giant battle tree by the end of Volume 2.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on May 5, 2017.
