The upcoming Focus Features film, Race, is finally coming into view, and the theatrical trailer alone promises a biopic that's not to be missed. Directed by Stephen Hopkins and penned by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, Race tells the true story of Jesse Owens, one of history's greatest athletes.

Owens wanted to be the best track and field athlete in the world in the 1936 Olympics, but competing in Adolf Hitler's Berlin posed a set of unprecedented complications. While his aim may have been to bring home the gold, he changed the course of history and became a legend in the process.

Stephan James (Selma) will be taking on the role of Jesse Owens with Jason Sudeikis (We're the Millers) playing his coach, Larry Snyder. Other stars of the film include Jeremy Irons, Carice van Houten, Shanice Banton, and William Hurt.

I don't know about you, but it looks to me as if Race is already in the running to be a top Oscar contender.

Race will sprint into theaters February 19, 2016.
