In case you're out of the loop, for example, on the moon, then you'll probably have heard that along with the new Star Wars trilogy coming our way, there will be three spin-off films to be released bi-annually in parallel. Two of these film's plots have been revealed, with the first telling of how the Death Star plans were stolen and the second being an origin story for Han Solo. However, the third "Anthology" film is still up in the air with regards to what the story centers around. So let's go through some of the best Star Wars stories that would make great films.
1) Galen Marek / Starkiller
First introduced in the video game The Force Unleashed, Galen Marek is the son of a rogue Jedi in hiding after the execution of Order 66. Darth Vader takes him under his wing and trains him as his secret apprentice, telling him that he is destined to defeat the Emperor. However, things go awry during his training and thus begins the story of how the Rebel Alliance was formed. It's a fantastic tale, enhanced by how engaging a character Starkiller (his badass nickname) is thanks to his being raised a Sith and slowly opening to the light side of the force, which is a nice spin on the usual story of a Jedi being tempted by the dark side. It's also one pretty much ready to go as far as the film is concerned, as the story plays out in a nicely cinematic way in the game.
2) Grand Admiral Thrawn
In the new trilogy, we've already seen that the Empire has been scrambled together into the first order, which we know very little about. However, in the expanded universe, we go really in-depth to what happened to all those Star Destroyers a left hanging after the Death Star gets blown up in Return of the Jedi. It's an incredible trilogy of stories centering aroung Thrawn, the guy who musters the remnants of the Empire together and then consistently shows the rebels that the Emperor wasn't in and of himself, the Empire. He's an incredible character, and one who is always intensely thrilling to experience.
You know, I'm getting a little sick of the whole Jedi/Sith dynamic of Star Wars. That's not to say I don't like it, mind, it's just that the overwhelming majority of stories in the Star Wars universe centre on that dynamic. So how about we move on a little from boring old light versus dark and focus on some guys who don't even care about any of it. In case you've been missing out, Mandalorians are a race of people from the planet Mandalore. The most famous of these people is Boba Fett, and while he's specifically bad-ass, everyone else is pretty damn cool too. There have been many great stories about this race, but one of my favourites (and my choice here), is known as the siege of Mandalore. Basically, Darth Maul manages to eliminate their ruler, inciting a rebellion from the greatest warriors of the planet. So begins an epic tale of warriors and their quest to regain their world. It would make an epic film in its own right, and is officially canon thanks to the Clone Wars, so it's completely plausible.
In truth, there are so many other great stories to choose from when it comes to Star Wars, but these are three of my personal top picks. If you have your own preferences, then by all means let us know in the comments below and until next time guys, enjoy your life.
