There is no argument that Superman has been a mainstay in American culture since he was first created. Whether you like the guy or not, you gotta give him credit. He's managed to stick around even though he's been killed off once and re-imagined more times than we can count. Creators were even bold enough to strip him of his infamous crimson undies. But what if I told you there was a subtle twist in the Supermen we've seen over the years that's been sitting under our noses. Chances are, you probably missed it! Look for a pattern in the series of images below and see if you can figure it out.
Did you catch it? If not, scroll through the images again and see if you can find it! But if you just can't contain yourself, here's the answer:
The pattern you see above is in Superman's hairline. Notice how I used the word "twist" up there? Get it?!
But seriously, check out the pattern:
- Kirk Alyn: Curl
- George Reeves: No Curl
- Christopher Reeves: Curl
- Dean Cain: No Curl
- Brandon Routh: Curl
- Henry Cavill: No Curl
Want to know the even crazier thing? Check out this image from Batman v Superman
There is Cavill's curl in all of it's glory! Yes, I realize this is the same actor, but isn't it ironic that the latest Supes flick still follows (albeit unintentionally) the curl, no curl pattern? Well, I've always been a stickler for the signature "S" curl. Even more than the undies, it's what makes Superman, Superman! Then again, perhaps I'm the only one that gets excited about such things.
