in 2001, Dwayne Johnson started his early movie career. Although he was still contracted to the WWE, CEO Vince McMahon used Johnson's popularity in movies to not market Johnson's credentials but to propel the WWE from wrestling to acting. Of course, before Johnson there were others who tried like Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, Randy Savage, Goldberg but none had the charisma or acting ability that Johnson had. So, after Johnson's contract ran out in 2002, Johnson left the WWE to pursue acting full-time.
Now, nearly after 13 years, Dwayne Johnson is one of the most marketable actors today. He is a very talented actor that can play the action hero but also has the personality to do comedy, drama, and horror. He is so marketable that we will see him in upcoming Shazam, Big Trouble in Little China, Predator 4, Fast 8, and (rumored) Terminator. So, it's of little surprise that Sylvester Stallone wants Johnson for Expendable 4 as the big bad guy.
Will Johnson be the ultimate bad guy in the Expendable franchise?
Stallone himself wants Hulk Hogan and Johnson to be the bad guys. The good news is that Johnson himself is interested in the role, too.
In his AMA (Ask Me Anything) on social media site Reddit, picked up by Cinema Blend, 'The Rock' revealed his desire to join The Expendables 4 cast and gave insights on what he wants his character to be like.
"I don't want to be on their team and be buddies with them," he added. "I want to hunt every single one of them down and tell them to 'send your soul to heaven cause your ass is mine.'"
Johnson also wants to be involved because friend and fellow actor Terry Crews can be his opponent in the "pec order" and that Rhonda Rousey would be his training partner.
Terry Crews v Dwayne Johnson. Who wins?
Rhonda's wondering eye...
Now, if I was Stallone, I would do everything I can to get Johnson onboard. If he does, then Johnson would be the first real "god fearing" bad guy there is. No disrespect to Eric Roberts, Van Damme, or Mel Gibson, but those guys are past it. Johnson is a bigger name and has greater appeal. He is arguably the bigger star than the Expendables cast put together. Plus, like I said before, he can act—which is a good thing because so far the acting in the films has been horrible.
