Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde would make an awesome solo movie, don't ya think? She's smart and stealthy and her back story has been relatively undeveloped on-screen, certainly in comparison to Wolverine's or Magneto's.
During her recent 2015 tour for her new movie Freeheld, Ellen Page discussed a Kitty Pryde solo film at the Rome Film Festival:
"Sadly, I have no information for you. Would I be utterly delighted to continue playing Kitty Pryde? Yes. But I have no idea."
When the interviewer asked page about a Kitty Pryde solo movie her face lit up and enthused:
"I would love it!"
Kitty Pryde's first appearance in comic book form was in 1980, so that's 35 years' worth of awesome material to draw from... personally, I'd be interested to see the X-Men / Guardians of the Galaxy crossover storyline, with Kitty Pryde's relationship with Star-Lord set against the whole epic deal with the Black Vortex... ah, we can dream, right?
I loved the more grown-up Kitty Pryde we saw in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but check out this adorable Ellen Page from the actual past... she's always just had a great grip on this intelligent, sensitive character she's playing and I'd love to see more of her exploring the role.
It was rumored for a while that X-Men fan Joss Whedon wanted to direct a Kitty Pryde solo movie -- which he maybe has time for now Age of Ultron is over? -- and Ellen Page told Vulture that she would love that idea back in 2013:
"I’m available! Kitty Pryde’s awesome. I’m super grateful to be the actress who’s gotten to be her, and you only desperately hope that the true fans who have a right to demand what they want and who have been passionate about these stories for a really long time, that you can pull it off for them. I would be so thrilled to play Kitty Pryde again. I really would."
A reasonable possibility or a distant dream? Do you think that a Kitty Pryde solo movie will ever happen?
