It's only taken 37 years, but we are happy to announce that James Franco has finally become a man! At least in the Jewish sense of the term, anyway.
With a little help from his bromantic partner in life, Seth Rogan and wife Lauren Miller Rogen, The Interview actor was thrown a star-studded bar mitzvah on Saturday, marking his coming-of-age as part of their annual Hilarity for Charity variety show. And, Miley Cyrus performed at it, appropriately themed (as always) in a blue thonged leotard, Star of David wristbands and silver, metallic, thigh skimming boots.
The 22-year-old 'Wrecking Ball' singer took to the stage to belt out karaoke favorites such as "Superfreak" and "Shout," amongst some of her own hits. Miley being Miley, she created quite the stir during the performance, turning to face the band and unleashing the cheekiest part of her costume to an unsuspecting crowd -- who, by the way, were apparently loving it.
And, as if her outfit wasn't bating enough already, she chose additional accessories to spice up her 'Jewish themed' garb, such as a big Star of David as a stage prop and a shiny golden cape embroidered with the words "Shalom Y'all."
James Franco, who is technically Jewish but wasn't raised in the religion, reportedly had a traditional ceremony with a rabbi earlier in the week. That technically means he's been a man longer than first claimed, BUT we're willing to overlook these minor details because his first bar mitzvah didn't have Miley, nor did it have flippin' Jurassic Park's Jeff Goldblum leading the ceremony!
Oh, and it didn't have Zac Effron there to play the part of Franco's foreskin, either.
As Miley told the crowd:
"Tonight has been f--king eventful, I mean, Zac Efron as your f--kin' penis, foreskin, that's a famous dick you got there, we all knew that anyway!"
And how did the whole concept come about? Rogen explained:
"James never had a bar mitzvah and he mentioned that to me 15 years ago and it's one of those things we've talked about over the years and we needed a theme for this year's event, and we thought, we could give James Franco a bar mitzvah and hold a charity event. That seemed like a good opportunity—you don't pass on that."
Sure, why not.
