The fifth installment of the Underworld series is officially in the works, and the stars of the franchise are headed to Prague! After the franchise brought in nearly $500 million worldwide, fans are eager to see Selene's return to the big screen. Anna Foerster (Criminal Minds, Outlander) is at the helm of the project directing the Cory Goodman (The Last Witch Hunter, Priest) penned screenplay.
The ten-week filming period will take place entirely in the Czech capital and nearby areas. The cast includes Kate Beckinsale as Selene and Theo James (Divergent), reprising his Underworld: Awakening role, David.
Alongside Beckinsale and James, the cast includes Tobias Menzies (Outlander, Casino Royale) and Lara Pulver (Sherlock) as a new Lycan leader, Marius, and an ambitious Vampire respectively, while Game of Thrones' Charles Dance plays Thomas, a Vampire elder.
According to Screen Rant, Underworld: Next Generation will pick up where Awakening left off, with Selene awakening from a cryogenic sleep to a futuristic world in which the public is aware of the existence of Vampires and Lycans and intends to hunt them into extinction.
Hopefully all goes well in the upcoming weeks and production goes smoothly on Sony's Underworld: Next Generation!
The current release date for Underworld: Next Generation is for October 21, 2016.
