"Look, up in the sky!"
"It's a bird!"
"It's a plane!"
"No, it's Superman! ... Also, if you thought it was a bird or a plane, why are you two so excited?"
Here it is, the classic, the beautiful, the iconic - Superman... in Funko Pop form.
He is the penultimate superhero, the hero that gave rise to every other superhero on the planet. Some say he's too powerful, I say that's what makes his story so great. He has a heart bigger than most human beings. To live with the power of a God, but to refuse to use it for selfish gain, that is the TRUE super power in his arsenal.
Superman has been made into thousands, nay- millions of different toys, but this one might be the greatest of all. Let's hit my fangirling with some freeze breath and get to it.
First of all... look at that curl. It's glorious. And Superman exclusively owns this otherwise plain head-mold, which was a pretty big deal in the early days of Funko Pop when there were only so many head molds for characters without special masks or helmets.
This is the most widely-accepted version of Superman's costume, tighty reddies and all. Great boots, classic Superman emblem, awe-inspiring red cape, and gosh I can't get over that curl. It's just so dope.
Though not pictured above, the cape features the solid yellow version of the S shield on it, just like in the comics.
I have no complaints about this Pop what-so-ever and I think it is the perfect representation of the Big Blue Boy Scout.
There are several variations of this Pop, including Metallic, Bobble-Head, Metallic Bobble-Head, and several re-paints. The Metallic Chase variant Pop has been showing up all over this past year, after having been retired for a few years. It's been spotted at Khol's, GameStop, and Target (maybe more) alongside the Metallic Chase variant of the Batman Pop. But these are very rare and hard to find, so happy hunting.
Pros: Dat curl, tho. Classic, iconic costume. The red capes are coming. Super undies.
Cons: Almost TOO perfect.
Estimated Value: $9.00 (according to the Pop Price Guide)
