I don't normally like when movies depict the deaths of kids... but when they do, I prefer those deaths to be brutal af.

Like, if you're going to go ahead and send a kid to his or her death, why not be a true savage and make it ridiculous and deadly as hell? I almost think it softens the blow, as opposed to a movie that only goes semi-hard with their kid death.

Here are 5 of the best examples of movies having the balls to go ahead and kill a kid on the big screen.

1. Pet Sematary

Any time you have a speeding big rigs and a cute little blonde kid meeting face-to-face, something magical (and fatal) usually happens.

2. Jaws

This Jaws death would have been brutal and gruesome for an adult, but the fact that it was a kid just playing football with his friends makes this perfect fodder for this list.

Love horror? Check out the Moviepilot Magazine's hot Halloween FEAR edition.

3. Mimic

One of my friends was in Mimic 2, so in order to get an idea of what to expect from the film, of course I watched the original movie. It was probably one of Guillermo del Toro's less proud moments film-wise, but this kid-death was one for the ages... and one of the first I remember noticing in a major film.

4. It

Poor Georgie. Clowns have never really been my thing, and this is one of many reasons why, tbh.

5. Dinocroc

Any time that you decapitate a young child, you're going to get the attention you deserve for your ridiculous(ly awesome) direction, screenplay, and writing.

What other kid deaths can you recall from movies, horror or otherwise?
