Horror classic Cannibal Holocaust managed to be so shocking that the director, Ruggero Deodato, actually had to stand trial for murder; the infamous impaled-on-a-stake scene was so realistic that Deodato had to produce the actor in question, proving to the authorities that he hadn't killed anyone.
Cannibal Holocaust is still effective to horror fans today...
UK group Horrify Me is a photography studio with a difference: they offer the chance to dress you up in hideous, gory horror set-ups for a ghoulishly convincing photoshoot; you too could look this disturbing!
Recently, Horrify Me have taken some shots in tribute to Ruggero Deodato's horror masterpiece, Cannibal Holocaust, for the 35th anniversary of the movie, starring model Harley Rose. You can see how faithful they are to the original...
Photographer Rick Jones commented on the shoot:
The images have had immense feedback. Cannibal Holocaust fans (and there are a LOT of those) absolutely love my photos and they’ve been a real success. They’ve also attracted some fierce criticism too for their depiction of graphic horror and gore, but that’s kind of the whole point.
Zombie, Vampire, Erotic Gore, Evil Dead, Freddy and Carrie are just a few of the amazing custom photoshoots offered by these talented folks and, as a massive horror fan, I can't think of a cooler group shoot with a bunch of friends (or a blood-spattered bride)!
