Alien: Isolation

Let's start off with the good old PC:

  • Amnesia: The Dark Descent - This survival horror game will keep you awake at night. It's filled with puzzles, a foreboding castle, and monsters you can only run from!
  • Five Nights At Freddy's - This game has become a sensation and spawned many sequels. There's a reason why it's so successful; prepare for terror!
  • Among the Sleep - From the first-person view of this toddler, you'll see some horrifying sights in this genuinely creepy game.
  • Outlast - What could be creepier than a remote psychiatric hospital in the middle of nowhere? What's inside of it!
  • System Shock 2 - This classic game from 1999 still packs a serious punch. Seems like terror ages pretty well!
  • Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth - This is a pretty overlooked horror game, mostly because it's still fairly glitchy. But MAN is this game scary.
  • Slender: The Eight Pages - Play it and be terrified.

Next up we have Sony's Playstation systems:

  • Silent Hill 2 - This is an absolute classic of the genre. Silent Hill 2 is packed full of jumps, excellent storytelling, and engaging gameplay!
  • Fatal Frame 2 - This story follows twin sisters Mio and Mayu as they explore an abandoned village. What they uncover is seriously disturbing.
  • Resident Evil 2 - Free of the awful voice acting from the first game and some of its clunky controls, Resident Evil 2 is a game that shows why everyone knows of this survival horror series.
  • P.T. Demo - This game may not be available anymore, but if you have a friend who owns this demo, I guarantee you that there won't be a more terrifying game you can play on Halloween!
  • Silent Hill 4: The Room - This game has one of the most unusual takes on a horror game you're likely to come across. Trapped inside of a room you'll have to engage with some terrifying puzzles in order to free yourself!
  • Until Dawn - Until Dawn is a celebration of old-school 80s horror films. Based on the decisions and mistakes you make, not everyone may survive the night!
