I'm completely addicted to Funko Pop! Vinyl figures. I've been collecting since 2012 and own over 300 and counting! (Oh, I also have a wife

Batman. Probably the most popular superhero of all time. His look has been constantly changing in slight ways since his creation, and his Bat symbol has gone over more MAJOR revisions that I can count over the years. But no matter how he comes at you, you know he's the Dark Knight, and then you know you're in for a world of hurt.

Batman is not only Pop Heroes #01, but he is also the first Funko Pop period. Though his original version was blue with this classic yellow and black logo, this version has replaced that one as the standard. The beginning. THE Batman Pop.

And this Pop has given rise to well over two dozen different versions and repaints. In fact, it's become a point of contention in the Pop Collecting community. Seems we get several new Batman Pops a year, while other popular DC characters have yet to been created. Heck, we can't even get a Sinestro in a yellow suit and that should be a simple repaint.

But all that aside, let's just look at this Pop on it's own.

The Review:

What can I say? It's a classic. Black and gray, the classic comic book Batman colors (which I much prefer over the animated Batman Blue... because bats aren't blue).

The bright yellow utility belt is reminiscent of the earlier days of Batman, and I wouldn't have been mad at seeing a little yellow in the logo, but they instead used the Batman logo that currently adorns a few Batman comic books and video games. But I'm not hating it. It's one of the better versions of the Bat in my opinion.

(There IS a version of this Pop with the classic yellow oval Bat symbol, but that is considered a "Printing Error" run. If you can find one for sale, it'll set you back at least $90.)

The cape is wonderful and pointy at the ends, unlike Superman's, which is cut straight at the bottom. It's such a little, yet crucial detail.

The white eyes were a good choice, which is similar to the LEGO version of Batman. Or, I guess, most Batman toys. Still, due to the stylized look of Funko Pop figures, they really "pop" and contrast in a pleasing way.

And those Bat ears, well, no complaints from me.

As I said, there are several versions of this Pop. Direct variants include a metallic, bobble-head, and metallic bobble-head. Then, there are several repaints of this mold, such as Earth 2 Batman, Blackest Night Batman, The Joker-Batman, and several more.

Rating: 10/10

Pros: Great costume that only works in black... and sometimes very, very dark gray. Ears on point. Getting lost in those white eyes.

Cons: Not my favorite Bat logo, but that's a personal choice, so I won't hold it against him.

Estimated Value: $10.00 (According to the Pop Price Guide)
