Everyone has the characters they love, and the characters they hate, but one category that's often left out is that characters that simply annoy us. The ones that not only frustrate the characters in the movie, but the audience too. So, here's my list of the top 5 most annoying movie characters.
5. Jar Jar Binks (Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace)
I'm pretty sure this guys is known universally as one of the most annoying characters ever to hit the big screen. He's clumsy, irritating, and a rather poor excuse for comedic relief in what is already widely regarded as a poor series of films. Sorry Jar Jar, no one really likes you i'm afraid. (But we like you more than Attack Of The Clones...)
4. Paul and Amanda Kirby (Jurassic Park 3)
Now I know I'm cheating a little here, but watching these two aimlessly stroll through Isla Sorna like some child's playground makes me want to repeatedly scream, "Dr. Grant says that's a very bad idea!" Honestly, these two seem to lack all awareness of the fact that they are indeed on an island full of dinosaurs, until one member of the crew has already died, the plane has crashed, and freaking T-rex has been killed by something even bigger! And even then they seem to want to challenge all of Dr. Grant's authority, even after tricking him into going to the island in the first place! Honestly, sort it out you two. For everyone's sake.
3. Frodo Baggins (The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy)
Boy am I gonna' get hate for this. Now, don't get me wrong, The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy is one of my all-time favourite set of movies, and in my opinion, The Return Of The King is one of the greatest movies ever made. But Frodo is just so frustrating to watch! He makes numerous bad decisions, he takes on half the work that Sam does, and almost screws up the entire year-and-a-half long trek across Middle Earth at the final hurdle. Oh, and lets not forget who decided going through Moria should be their course? Frodo, word of advice, listen to Sam more than you listen to yourself.
2. Rachael Ferrier (War Of The Worlds)
Dakota Fanning demonstrates how a child would react to an alien invasion almost too well here, by screaming. ALL THE TIME. Some of the decibels that child reaches make me question wether or not she's human, and frankly makes me think that the Martians are just coming to pick her up. Either way, it makes me want to root for the Martians! Keep looking guys, maybe check the basement?
1. Ruby Rhod (The Fifth Element)
-Sigh- Yes, here we are. Number 1, the most annoying character in cinema history. Ruby Rhod - the overly eccentric, incredibly camp radio host that the unfortunate Korben Dallas has to put up with. I'm fairly certain his character was written with the express purpose of annoying our hero, Mr. Dallas, but he does it a little too well, and ends up annoying half the audience in the process. And when I say half, I really mean all.
So, those are my picks for the top 5 most annoying characters in movie history. Thanks for reading!
