Sure enough, the new Star Wars trailer released the other day has pretty much destroyed the internet, what with the awesome reveal of Kylo Ren's voice, hearing Finn and Rey talk for the first time, seeing Leia, and realizing Han is now a true believer in the force, among many other things.
But you know what was really great about the new trailer? The music!
John Williams' new track was naturally captivating, but I'm sure the nostalgia hit hard when you heard that ever so recognizable tune during the scene where we see the Millennium Falcon swoop across the landscape of Jakku, evading enemy TIE fighters. It's undoubtedly beautiful, which is why I wanted to showcase the trailer with just the score driving it. No dialogue. No sound effects. Just the music. Hope you enjoy it!
Author's Note: As it turns out, the music in this trailer isn't a newly composed arrangement by John Williams. Rather, it's been confirmed that Frederick Lloyd has contributed music to the latter half of the trailer, namely the “Force Theme,” while John Samuel Hanson of Confidential Music worked on the first half of the trailer music.
Note: the music only track was extracted from a video found on the Disneyland Facebook page. I did my best to clean up the audio dips (where the dialogue would be) and then spliced it with HD 1080p video of the new trailer as the original video was lower quality. This was definitely a labor of love, and the result turned out to be way cooler than I was expecting.
