Mike's Horror Den

Kristy was released in 2014, but unfortunately not in the U.S. The last I heard it was released in Germany. I was lucky enough to watch it on YouTube before it was taken down. I don't know when it will be released in the staes, but oddly enough, it appeared on Lifetime this past weekend. So I hope that is a sign that it will be released here.

The film is about a young college girl named Justine, who is spending Thanksgiving weekend alone on campus. The terror begins when Justine takes a trip to the gas station nearby and runs into a strange girl. Justine is followed to the campus by the strange girl and three unknown men. It turns out they are part of some cult that kills young women and calls them all Kristy. Justine does everything she can to survive and should not be underestimated.

This film is very similar to You're Next and The Strangers. Justine becomes a great final girl by the film's final act. She's not as bad ass as Erin from You're Next, but she can hold her own. I love how they did a good job showing how large and alone the campus is before the horror starts. I've always thought a school is a great setting for a horror movie.

I really enjoyed this film. I love good hpme invasion films. Ashley Greene, who plays the strange girl, did a great job with the character. She is very creepy. Haley Bennett was amazing as Justine. I don't know why this was never released in the states but as soon as it is I'll definitely buy it. It may be hard to find right now, but if you do get to watch it let me know what you thought.
