The Flash is back on our screens and following up its incredible first season with an intense second one; there are two Earths, two flashes, a new villain, Harrison Wells is back (just, in another universe), Cisco has powers, Barry has a new love interest, and there are breaches between worlds all over the place. Whew!

In amongst all of these other changes, there is one major casting difference between Season One and Season Two: Firestorm. Today we got a look at the new actor joining the show as one half of this meta-human duo: Franz Drameh.

Firestorm is actually the combination of two characters, Dr Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell), two men fused when the reactor blew, who now combine to create a man with nuclear capabilities. Dr Stein is the one who originally created the FIRESTORM project which led to this particularly unusual new metahuman, while Ronnie was working on the reactor alongside Wells, Cisco and Caitlyn. He was actually Caitlyn's fiance, and Season One followed her as she dealt with his loss, followed by her deep joy at realizing that he was still alive as one half of Firestorm, their sweet and simple wedding... and then her horrifying loss again in the finale.

Now, Dr Stein is on his own, and it seems that he can no longer function without being part of the burning entity that is Firestorm. After this week's dramatic episode where he collapsed, check out this clip revealing how Team Flash are going to save his life.

It seems that Jefferson Jackson, or Jax, will be the new second half of Firestorm, and it was announced earlier this year that he will also be appearing in the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow.

We don't yet know anything about Jax, other than his name, and the fact that he is apparently a match for Dr Stein. The name Jefferson Jackson has appeared in the comics, but much like Felicity Smoak, it belongs to a throwaway character who appeared in a few issues as a friend to Ronnie Raymond. This will be a new incarnation of the name. It looks like there may be trouble ahead for the new character, though, as according to the episode synopsis, not every member of the team is happy with this choice:

Barry and the team look for another Firestorm match for Dr. Stein. When the team meets Jefferson Jackson, Caitlin has her reservations about whether Jax is the right match for Dr. Stein.

Does something happen with Jax that leaves Caitlin suspicious, or will this episode show her reluctance to create a new Firestorm because it means that she will have to accept that her husband Ronnie is gone for good? It would definitely make an interesting episode, especially as many fans are expressing frustration that Caitlyn appears to be interested in Jay Garrick after such a short period of time.

Of course, there is another fan theory about Ronnie Raymond, and one that may be backed up by the photo that Robbie Amell posted today.

He posted the image of himself with Drameh, along with the caption "Firestorm is in great hands! But I'll be back". Clearly, we haven't seen the last of Ronnie Raymond!

A popular fan theory is that Ronnie wasn't killed in the singularity, but sucked through the portal to Earth 2. If this is the case, then he is undoubtedly looking for a way back through- something that we know is possible, given that Zoom is dropping Earth 2 Metahumans through breaches, and Jay Garrick found his way over as well. The issue is that if Ronnie is suffering in the same way that Dr Stein is, he'll need to find a new partner as well - could we be seeing the creation of a Firestorm on both Earths?

We'll have to wait until next week to really see Jax in action, but if this clip is anything to go by, it's going to be a fantastic episode!

The Fury of Firestorm airs October 27th
