By now it should be well known that both the Halloween and Friday The 13th franchises have new films in development. But just recently both movies have been delayed for similar reasons.

Let me go into detail...

Friday The 13th - Delayed Until 2017

The 13th installment in the Friday The 13th franchise has been in the air for a few years now. First it was supposed to come out in early 2015, but it was delayed till November of 2015. Then it was supposed to be released in early 2016, but it was delayed AGAIN until 2017! Still, the one good thing about these frustrating delays are that we'll likely get a superb movie because of them.

Jason is NOT happy about this though!

The former writer for the next Friday The 13th movie, Nick Antosca, turned in a draft of his script back in July. But it seems Paramount wasn't a fan of it, and now they're ''in the hunt for new writers''. David Bruckner is still attached as the director though.

The new Friday The 13th release date is Friday, January 13th, 2017

Halloween - Delayed... (Date Unknown)

Just a few days after Friday The 13th was announced to be delayed, Malek Akkad (franchise producer) said that Halloween Returns has also been delayed, but promised fans that a better movie will be the result.

There is a bit of a delay with this sequel now.But I do think it is a good thing for the franchise. It’s only going to be resulting in a better film, which I hope the fans appreciate. But this new Halloween isn’t going to be quite what has been announced and what people are expecting, so we’re making some changes there as well.”

I noticed he says ''it won't be quite what has been announced''. Which leads me to believe that they're probably gonna tweak the story a little bit.

And for those who didn't know...

The official story involves Michael Myers escaping death row 18 years after his initial rampage... and returning to his old tricks.

Why I think these delays are a good thing:

The studio's behind both the Halloween and Friday The 13th franchises seem to be taking these future installments very seriously. Different from in the past where they'd let about anything fly. (Yes I'm talking to you Busta Rhymes and space Jason). So if they feel like they need to tweak a few things, or make the story's even better, I'm all for it!

Which one are you more excited for? Friday The 13th or Halloween Returns?
