While on the red carpet for Ed Sheeran's new film, Jumpers for Goalposts, actor Tom Holland spoke a little bit about his role as the latest incarnation of Peter Parker, A.K.A. Spider-Man. Fresh off of filming [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409) in Atlanta, the young actor has a scar over his nose, and the folks at HeyUGuys decided to ask a little bit about it.
Holland described the incident without any context for the scene—what a pro!
It was my own mistake. I basically fell over and bashed my face in front of about two hundred crew members, so not my most heroic moment! I was getting into position, everything went wrong, and they still did the take anyway.
For anyone missing Holland's predecessors, rest assured that he misses them, too.
it's impossible not to [be inspired by the former films and stars]. They were so great, and such real and rich performances, there were obviously factors that I love and will try to recreate. But I think the most important thing of the moment is to make a film that's obviously of the same character, but try to make a different, and new and exciting movie.
He also mentioned his upcoming film with Chris Hemsworth, In The Heart of the Sea, and chatted a bit about how the actor has helped to advise him on joining the Marvel universe.
Either way, it's extremely cool to see Holland—who has a history of dangerous jumps and parkour moves loaded up on his instagram account—getting so into the part that he gets a little roughed up. Luckily, he's fine, and ready to begin another press tour soon.
