This morning, Total Film confirmed that DC's upcoming superhero blockbuster, [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](tag:711870), will take place 18 months after the end of Man of Steel. With this in mind, the magazine's upcoming issue is shaping up for what might be the most in-depth look at the film yet, and the its stars have wasted no time in letting people know how the two films connect.
In one interview, Henry Cavill gives us a bleak look at how Bruce Wayne gets involved from the start of the film -- an image that we've seen before, explained.
What happens there is one of Bruce’s buildings gets destroyed [during Superman's fight with Zod] and he’s trying to save all the people inside the building and he can’t... So he is this angry person who fears what Superman may do. Why are they just going to trust this super-powered alien? What if he does decide to turn against us?
A familiar story brought to a blockbuster scale. Batman's distrust of Superman— and his overall paranoia as a character—has led him to keep very specific tabs on his Justice League teammates in the comics.
Ben Affleck, who takes on the mantle of Bruce Wayne and Batman in the film, elaborated a little more on where Wayne is mentally:
He’s found himself in a place of harboring a tremendous amount of rage for Superman. So it’s how he got there, and what that’s done to him, and what that’s done to people around him like Alfred, who are, I think, very scared and worried for him. It’s something that’s interesting and new.
While fans have long since deduced that the Zod fight would play a major part in Batman's intentions to take down Superman, it's interesting to see it all put into perspective. Make sure to catch the full issue of Total Film when it releases in December.
Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
