As you may have heard, there is a prequel to the Taken series in development for NBC, and it will follow the young CIA agent Bryan Mills on his early missions. After I heard this news I thought to myself, "Who could possibly play a young Liam Neeson? He's one of the biggest badasses out there!" Well, now I'm trying to answer that question. I'm going to suggest five possible actors that could play this role, and I hope you enjoy!
1. Tom Welling
While Tom Welling is already 38 years old, you have to keep in mind that Liam Neeson is in his 60s. There's plenty of time for him to have had a lengthy CIA career between these time periods. Besides that, Welling has what it takes to be one of the next action badasses. We all know that he's already played Superman, but a different role as young Bryan Mills could put in back into the action spotlight.
2. Jake Abel
Jake Abel is a young and vibrant star, and I think that he has what it takes to bring a darker role like this to life. At only 27, it's not hard to believe that he'll turn into the extraordinary Liam Neeson, and this could open up a wider time period for the series to take place.
3. Philip Winchester
After watching his new show The Player (also on NBC, which could cause problems), I'm fully convinced that Winchester has what it takes for a role of this caliber. He could very well turn into the next big action star, and what better role would there be than a young version of a current big action star? He has the looks, he has the talent, and I'm certain that he could pull off the role with ease.
4. Jared Padalecki
You might not look at Padalecki and think he's suited for a role like this, but the thing he does bring to the table is size. What a lot of people don't realize is that Liam Neeson is 6'4" and built, and so is Jared Padalecki. He is more of a physical match for the character, even if he doesn't exactly look like Liam Neeson. Besides that, Padalecki has given us 10 seasons of Supernatural to prove why he can act in anything.
5. Luke Macfarlane
Macfarlane has proven his worth as the soldier type in Killjoys, and has surprisingly shown a lot of acting range on the show Night Shift. Because of these two shows alone on his resume, I think that he could quite possibly be the best choice for a young Bryan Mills. He has the look, he has the body, and he has the acting skills, so there's really no reason why he wouldn't make a good Bryan Mills!
