Jason Momoa, who is slated to play Aquaman in not only Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but also ALL of the future DCEU, has stated what he will base his version of the fishy fundamentalist on...
It looks like he will be drawing a large amount if inspiration from the New 52 run of Aquaman comics, written by Geoff Johns. During a Dallas Comic-Con panel, he mentioned that he has done research with Geoff himself on this version of the character, and who he is just in general.
This is AMAZING news. The New 52 Aquaman really expanded the mythology of the character, and frankly re-established him as a badass. It did things like Seven Relics of Atlantis story arc, and also made him more relatable, since humans and Atlantians aren't quite fond of each other, and he's both.
There is one thing to keep in mind through all this. Although he talked about about the New 52 Aquaman, he also stated before that his version would feature new things, and that he would bring his own take on the character. Also, that fans should keep an open mind. I mean his character look is already a departure from the traditional look. This is only natural. A lot of actors don't like to just copy and paste their performance. They like to put their own stamp on things. So really the only thing to do now, is wait for the movies to come out.
He will make his first appearance as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which will come out in March 25, 2016, and get his own standalone film said to release in July of 2018.
