The Flash and Arrow have returned with seasons 2 and 4 respectively, starting with a bang. What makes these seasons even better is the fact that they will be exploring unfamiliar realms - magic and sorcery on Arrow, and the multiverse on The Flash, with new surprises every episode.

The two shows will also be setting up a third spinoff series, [DC's Legends of Tomorrow](tag:2937021), set to air in January 2016, where a new (kinda) group of heroes will be introduced, along with the supervillain, immortal Vandal Savage. Which means... the crossovers are coming!

The crossovers are coming!

If you remember last season, the crossover between Arrow and Flash consisted of two different villains, and both heroes had a separate agenda.

However this year is going to step up the game, with the two crossover episodes (one from each show) showing like a back-to-back episode, two hours long (on their normal show days, of course).

According to Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen/Green Arrow on Arrow, it's going to be something we've never seen before on either show.

“Last year was designed so that if you were a fan of one show or a fan of the other show, you could enjoy 1.08 of ‘Flash’ and 3.08 of ‘Arrow’ independent of one another. It’s not the case this year. If you put them back to back on one night, they would run like one two-hour episode of television.

In fact, most of the ‘Flash’ episode takes place in Star City and most of the ‘Arrow’ episode takes place in Central City. We have a common villain… and just in general we’ve done an excellent job of weaving not just two shows, but three shows together.”

The episode has already been filmed, and is in post-production as we speak. It is going to be the stepping stone for Legends of Tomorrow. However, the most impressive and exciting detail is that the crossover is set to have a record number of superheroes in one scene.

“We shot a scene that had, like, nine superheroes in it. Nine people with either powers or super suits… It was an amazing thing to look at, to look out over the scene and see the world that has been built over the course of three-plus years.”

NINE superheroes in a scene. Further news also says that Legends of Tomorrow will be introducing ANOTHER new character - Connor Hawke, who is the second Green Arrow in the comics. Warner Bros. have officially confirmed the character to appear on the show; however, no further details have been provided.

The show boasts a wide roster of heroes (and villains) including Firestorm (Professor Stein with an unknown partner), Captain Cold (Leonard Snart) and Heatwave (Mick Rory), Connor Hawke, Rip Hunter, Vandal Savage, White Canary (Sara Lance), The A.T.O.M (Ray Palmer), and Hawkgirl with Hawkman. This is going to be one epic year, with all new heroes battling an immortal villain, while travelling through time!
