For those of you that aren't familiar with the work, Nemesis is a Mark Millar graphic novel that basically answers the question of what if Batman was the Joker? Billionaire Matt Anderson dons a costume and uses an array of high-tech gadgetry to avenge the death of his parents, but the twist is that they were villains and now so is he. The world's top cops are now his victims after his parents were wrongly imprisoned by a police chief named Blake Morrow. Matt starts out as a gang lord, works his way up as a drug exporter murdering cops along the way, until time comes to honor his mother's dying wish: before she was sent to the electric chair, of killing the clever chief of police, Blake Morrow. We now pretty much have a comic book version of American Psycho.
Now imagine this as a hard-R comic book movie. Sounds pretty epic right? Well we may be in luck! According to Mark Millar, a script for a Nemesis movie is complete and was written by The Grey screenwriter Joe Carnahan. Millar says that the script is incredible. Here is what Mark had to say about where the possibility of a Nemesis film was at a few months ago.
"They spent a lot of money on the screenplay. Joe Carnahan wrote it, it's fantastic. I think they're just waiting to see - I actually think Kingsman could be something that jumpstarts Nemesis. The screenplay is sitting there...they're probably waiting to see how Kingsman does and then maybe something will happen from there. But the script is finished."
Now that Kingsman has been out and was quite successful critically and through the box office, this may be the right amount of motivation for the studio to get this project started!
