The 2001 blockbuster Legally Blonde taught us many things -- that fluffy pens are cool, that it's okay to turn up to a party in a fancy dress, that endorphins make you happy, that men are big fat retards (not my quote) and that we should NEVER trust anybody with a perm. But above all else, the movie taught us that no matter what anyone might say, you must always have faith in yourself.
Yet following the sequel and a hit musical, a time came for our favorite Elle Woods to lie dormant for a while. So much so, that over the years we had almost completely forgotten about her!
Thankfully, it now seems that 14 years on, Reese Witherspoon wants to change all that. And speaking to Rachel Zoe on an episode of Fashionably Late, the actress sent us all into a frenzy when she alluded to the possibility of a third Legally Blonde installment. She said:
"I think we're ready to see Elle and see what she's up to lately."
Yep! Reese did indeed reveal that she would be happy to reprise the role of Elle again and this news is already giving me major endorphins. Thankfully, she went on to provide some more tid bits of information:
"A lot of writers over the years have come up with different ideas for it. I actually think it’s kind of great right now because we’re talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women. And I think it’d be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice or someone who runs for office."
She did however, finish off by telling us to not get our hopes up just yet, saying that she doesn't actually know if a threequel is in the cards, urging us instead to:
Watch what Reese had to say in full below:
