WARNING: This post contains HUGE spoilers for The Walking Dead TV series AND comic series

Proceed at your own risk.

After this week's intense episode of The Walking Dead, the big question everyone's asking is whether or not our beloved Glenn is dead or alive. While I've already covered why I believe Glenn has survived over here and here, I thought we should check out another angle on this whole Glenn-death hoopla, and look into how Glenn dies in the comic series of The Walking Dead.

Yes, sorry if that's your first time reading that (what can I say, I put a warning at the top of the article!), but you read correctly: in The Walking Dead comic series Glenn Rhee has died a horrible, horrible death. So, if we follow the theory that Glenn survives his experience with Nicholas and the alleyway walkers in the TV series, how else could he meet his grisly end? Let's find out!

Spoilers: this isn't how he dies in the comics

In the comic series, Glenn is also a major character, and in Issue #100 the biggest, baddest villain in the whole Walking Dead universe makes his appearance. His name? Negan.

In Issue #100, Negan makes Rick, Carl, Michonne, Heath, Glenn and Maggie line up on their knees in front of him, and plays the most terrifying game of "Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe" to choose his victim. Unfortunately, as you may have guessed, that victim ends up being Glenn.

Oh, at this point, I should let you know that Negan's favored weapon is a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire that he calls 'Lucille.' Yeah, he's a brutal bastard.

So after winding up Lucille, Negan absolutely annihilates poor Glenn, right in front of his closest friends, including his wife Maggie, who at that point in the comic series is pregnant. Yeeeouch.

RIP comic book Glenn.

Sorry, this is kinda scarring, even in drawing form

But when the show has been known to deviate from the comic books time and time again, why even bring up how Glenn dies in the source material? Well, this time it seems like quite a few things are lining up to make this particular scene come true.

Firstly, it has been hinted that Maggie is pregnant a few times in the series (check out my initial article on that theory over here), as she is in the comics when Glenn is murdered. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, a casting call was put out a month ago for a character who will appear in the Season 6 finale who sounds suspiciously like Negan (yes, the name on the casting call is different, but don't read into that too much). Push 'see more' for the whole description and read it below:

Of course it could just all be a massive red herring from the very sneaky writers and directors on the show, and maybe Glenn will live for another ten seasons, but there's also a massive chance it's all leading up to one thing: Glenn vs. Lucille. What do you think?
