It all began with Man Of Steel in 2013. What everyone believed was just a one shot reboot of Superman turned out to be the start of the DC Cinematic Universe when Warner Bros. saw the success of the film, with the new reveal being Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice with Henry Cavill reprising as Superman and Ben Affleck as The Caped Crusader. As everyone knows, the internet and media exploded with mixed anticipation with some doubting that Affleck could pull it off while some became all the more excited with his involvement.

Now everyone knows that Ben Affleck has not had the best track record as far as an acting career. But that does not by any means make him a bad actor. Bad writing is what destroys film, not actors. Before anyone starts criticizing me for stating that, think about this. We all remember Batman & Robin yes? The film that almost destroyed the Batman franchise? The failure of the film is not because of it's ensemble cast; it was all because they went about it the wrong way in both marketing and visual representation. Everyone here knows that Chris O'Donnell, George Clooney, Alicia Silverstone, Uma Thurman, and Arnold Schwarzenegger are all phenomenal actors and actresses. Not to mention the fact that following a private screening of Batman v. Superman, it became the very first superhero film to receive a standing ovation.

I believe Ben Affleck has the potential to be an amazing Batman/Bruce Wayne. Especially given this is a different type of Bruce Wayne. Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice takes a good deal of it's inspiration from the famous comic The Dark Knight Returns. I have been criticized about my claims before, but this time I will display my proof.

The Batsuit and Armored Batsuit:

On the left you see Ben Affleck's Batsuit. On the right, is The Dark Knight Returns

Bruce Wayne was far larger in size than in other depictions and was much older and retired during the events of The Dark Knight Returns much like how he is supposed to be during Batman v. Superman. Also, the two most notable details of the suit are the large bat symbol and the short ears. I seriously doubt this is mere coincidence. Add to this the finale to Part 2 of the film is in fact Batman and Superman facing off.

Also adding to the DCU is a Batman solo film and a sequel to Man Of Steel with both rumored to be released before the end of this decade.

Alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill the film will also star Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa as Aquaman. Both of which will get their own solo films in 2017 and 2018. Both will focus on their origins rather than current events with Wonder Woman taking place during World War II and Aquaman taking place solely in Atlantis possibly showing his rise to the throne.

Following the conflict between Batman and Superman with Aquaman and Wonder Woman being involved in some way, we get to see the bad side of Justice in Suicide Squad. Featuring a new depiction of The Joker played by Jared Leto along with Margot Robbie as the first live action Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, along with supporting roles from Joel Kinnamen and Scott Eastwood; this makes it one of the most anticipated movies of 2016. The two biggest aspects of the film that fans are looking forward to is Harley Quinn's first film appearance and Jared Leto's new spin on the Clown Prince of Crime.

This new and unknown depiction has fans speculating on what kind of persona he will have as will if he is indeed the real Joker, both good speculations and bad. Me personally, I believe that his Joker took attributes from the New 52 Joker with the slicked back hair and just all around sociopathic nature.

Just today it was leaked that he will be featured on the cover of Empire magazine in full Joker get up. Adding another teaser to the building anticipation.

After the suicide mission is all said and done with most of the biggest heroes of DC already assembled, we then get prepared for Part 1 of Justice League. One of the films that I cannot wait to see. Oddly enough, unlike having the usual 1 year wait between parts of films, this will have a 2 year period. That could however mean that they are in fact two separate JLA films. Whatever the case, we're excited none the less.

In between JLA Part 1 and Part 2, one of the remaining members of the Justice League will have his film. The Flash is set to be released in 2018 with Ezra Miller taking lead. Which honestly, doesn't really make a lot of sense to me recasting Grant Gustin who is a phenomenal Barry Allen. Only understandable reason would be to use Wally West instead of Barry. Heres hoping it'll be as good as the series nonetheless!

Following the solo film for the fastest man alive, we get the DC's version of Doctor Strange. Shazam! will have Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson portraying Black Adam. My thoughts are that he will actually also be playing Shazam as well. Given Shazam and Black Adam look almost exactly alike except for pointy ears and a more evil glance it seems like that's the road that will be taken. Makes good sense to me.

After Shazam comes Cyborg. This will be his first solo outing in TV or Movies as he is usually shown alongside his fellow Titans in the various shows. Ray Fisher has the look at first glance to be a good fit for a live action Cyborg.

And finally we'll see the reboot of Green Lantern which is now known as Green Lantern Corps. Again, I do not blame Ryan Reynolds for the first being a disappointment. We all know what hero he's perfect to play. Hal Jordan just wasn't the right role for him. This new Green Lantern will in fact be about John Stewart who is rumored to be played by Tyrese Gibson. This is a completely different route to be taken for the Green Lantern. And a better one in my opinion.

Man Of Steel was merely a trial run. 2016 will be the start of DC's rise in the movie industry. So many titles announced over the next 5 years have done more than enough to get every DC fan hyped and excited for what lies ahead.

And then the REAL war for supremacy between DC and Marvel will begin.
