Does Glenn Rhee have 9 lives? Not only does it seem that way, but I am not alone in thinking he has not yet used them all up. Following S6 EP3 "Thank You", the internet went wild with a combination of shock, disbelief and flat out refusal to believe that Glenn was devoured by walkers in front of our eyes. I am with the majority of the fandom who is not buying it one bit, and with the help of friends and internet strangers* who have given equally as much thought to this, I think I have put together some compelling evidence to support the theory that Glenn is still alive and chilling under a dumpster.

I'm not even sure where to start because there are really so many clues to Glenn's not-demise, one clue is just as compelling as the next. However, I think the most telling piece of the puzzle is the fact that Steven Yeun is still on set and still filming as recently as the Monday after his "death". A flashback, you say? No, I don't think so. He's been spotted filming with a new character, confirmed to be Paul "Jesus" Monroe from the comic. (played by Tom Payne and his deep, soulful eyes) Unless Glenn is channeling his inner Marty McFly, there is no way he has any flashbacks with "Jesus". I find it impossible to believe the powers that be would continue to pay Steven to show up to work every day for months after his character died and film scenes. Those scenes would either have to be fake and a waste of film or they would need to reshoot those scenes without him or edit him out. Seems like a mighty expensive way to fool fans.

There are multiple pictures from multiple days featuring Glenn, Jesus, Rick, Michonne, etc., filming. Unless there is some hilarious Weekend at Bernie's hijinks going on with Glenn's remains, he's still alive and has cheated death as usual. It's what he does. Glenn is a ninja. He's Glennja. Still not convinced? But wait! There's more!

"Thank You" was a great ep in every way. From ASZ people biting the dust in rapid succession (if I had been playing Take A Drink Every Time An ASZ Resident Dies Or Gets Hurt, I would have been drunk 15 minutes into the show) to Glenn/Nicholas, Michonne, Heath, Scott and their delish companions to Rick, Daryl, Sasha/Abe trying to hold it together, it was amazingly well crafted. Oh! And I mustn't forget my delight in seeing Greg Nicotero (whom I like to refer to as my future husband) pop up once again as a walker in the dumpster scene. And with that, let's dumpster dive back in.....

Poor Nicholas. From the start of the episode, it was clear he was losing it. We all knew Glenn would have been better off going to the feed store alone, but Glenn really wanted Nicholas to know he had faith in him. That really speaks to the character of Glenn (and why he's not dead). He never gives up on himself or other people and he holds himself to a higher standard; it's the ZA and he has never killed another living person, even when they have tried to kill him. Nicholas is one of those people. Instead, he took him under his wing, trying to save him, teach him and make him strong. In the end, I think he was stronger. Glenn couldn't save him and he couldn't save himself, he was mentally breaking down, but he made a brave choice - he sacrificed himself to save Glenn. To "thank" Glenn. The situation was obviously hopeless. I strongly believe Nicholas was not just taking the easy way out. He was buying Glenn some time by becoming a delicious walker smorgasbord. He could not have anticipated, in his state of mind, that Glenn would take a tumble into walker hell with him, but that does not mean he didn't save him at any rate.

The situation looks pretty grave, but you have to take into account the way they fell.... together, but with Nicholas on top of Glenn.

At first shocking glance, it does seem like Glenn is being torn apart, but at a very weird camera angle, highlighting his torso. After a second (and if I am being honest, third, fourth, fifth) viewing, you finally start to wonder why Glenn has intestines in his chest.

Unlike the other people eaten by walkers in this ep and nearly any death by walker ep, we don't see multiple, obvious, leave nothing to the imagination munching. Why is that? Is it because it's Nicholas being eaten on top of Glenn and Gimple is trying to mislead us? Yes. I think so. He loves to mess with the fans as much as Kirkman. Remember when they heartlessly killed infant Judith and fed her to the walkers? Yeah, because we only thought it happened, until we started slowing down Ty's prison explosion escape and noticed her little arm flailing about over his shoulder. Fans miss nothing! And sure enough, Judith was alive and with Ty just as we said. This is not much different.

It's completely plausible that Glenn was able to back crawl under the dumpster. As we can see in the pic below, the dumpster is not flat on the ground. There is plenty of space for tiny Glenn and we were shown this for a reason.

Space.... the final frontier
Space.... the final frontier

Let's check out that aerial shot again! We can see that Nicholas is being eaten and Glenn is just out of reach of grabby, hungry walker hands, his head in very close proximity to the space under the dumpster.

Now let's cut to the most compelling piece of evidence, the video. You can (at least I can) see Glenn disappear underneath the dumpster.

Our chain has been yanked and that circular, vague "message" Scott Gimple had Chris Hardwick read on Talking Dead only gives wings to the theory. I don't feel like I am in denial or that 99% of the fandom is either. It's not like we saw him get shot in the head and buried yet insist that he dug his way out, spackled his skull and went about his merry way. ::cough cough:: Like with Judith and Carol's "deaths", before I believe it, I'm going to need to see a body. Not an empty bloody carseat or ugly headscarf.... a body.

He does; Glenn + Ninja = Glennja

I strongly believe we will see Glenn again before the mid-season break, alive and well because even Kirkman and Gimple would not do this to us:

Still not as annoying as Ghost Lori
