If you love animals like I do, you're going to love Disney's newest animated film called Zootopia. If you have ever wished your pet dog, cat, or in my case, chinchilla, could talk, drink some wine with you, and even drive you around, this is the film for you.
What makes this film even better than the average anthropomorphic animal movie is the immense amount of star power featured. I guarantee we are going to watch Zootopia and recognize each of the characters' distinct voices. Directors Rich Moore and Byron Howard gave USA Today the breakdown.
J.K. Simmons as Mayor Leodore Lionheart
"J.K. is so commanding. We needed Lionheart to be a very typical politician. He's very good with the crowd, he has a lot of charisma. And he's so full of himself and blustery."
Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps
Goodwin's characters is trying her hardest to make it as a cop in the Zootopia Police Department.
Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde
Hopp's unlikely fox partner, Nick Wilde, is no stranger to solving Zootopia's crimes.
Tommy Chong as Yax the Yak
Yax is into a naturalist lifestyle, holistic living and getting back to nature. He's an emotional life coach. And I would want Tommy Chong as my life coach!
Tommy Lister as Finnick
"We like that Finnick is played by one of the world's most enormous men. So he has this huge, booming voice. It surprises people."
Jenny Slate as Bellwether
"She’s the harried, put-upon assistant to Mayor Lionheart. She’s a very sweet sheep. Jenny was perfect. She has a crazy, kinetic energy in her characters, all in her voice."
Alan Tudyk as Duke Weaselton
"Alan thought the name was very funny and loved the meta-nature of the joke."
Bonnie Hunt and Don Lake as Bonnie and Stu Hopps
We recorded them together to get the real chemistry. They are so funny together. It sells this idea of a couple married for so long who have 275 rabbit children.
Raymond Persi as Flash
"But sometimes the test dialogue is so good, you fall in love with it," says Moore. "Why change perfection?"
Idris Elba as Chief Bogo
Elba has mentioned he has some serious "shoulder-envy," as this chief is one strong animal.
Octavia Spencer as Mrs. Otterton
Mrs. Otterton is a sweet and loving mother.
I can't wait for the day we are able to translate what our animals are saying, thinking, and feeling. As much as I love my chinchilla, and I think she likes me a little bit since I feed her, I know we would only become closer if I could communicate to her in a better manner.
Zootopia is set to release in theaters March 4, 2016.
