So, there has been a ton of theories that point to our brand-new Joker, portrayed by Jared Leto, is in fact Robin turned psychopath Jason Todd. These theories instantly garnered a negative reaction but a lot of the points that they made actually make a ton of sense. Everything from the Robin tattoo to the markings on the suit all add up to make a perfect fan theory.
That being said, I don't believe that Jason Todd is The Joker, and I have a few things that I think supports my stance on this very controversial issue.
1. New Empire image hints at The Joker's past
I must give credit to Mark Robirds Jr. for pointing this out. If you look at the text next to the image, they refer to Harley Quinn as her real name, Dr. Quinzel. When The Joker and Dr. Quinzel first meet, Jason Todd was only a mere infant. It seems that Suicide Squad will feature a bevy of flashbacks featuring Mr. J and Harley Quinn. The time periods simply don't add up unless they have changed the Batman timeline around, which is entirely possible.
2. THIS person from the trailer could possibly be Robin!
The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer revealed a lot of things, and let us speculate on many others. One theory that I have is that the little girl seen in the trailer here is in fact Stephanie Brown! The only female Robin during the Batman's historic run, Brown took over as Robin in The New 52, which is something that DC seems to be borrowing from heavily for their DCEU. Hopefully I am right and we get to see the beginnings of a brand new Robin for the standalone Batman films set to come out in the future.
3. Jason Todd needs to become RED HOOD!
If you aren't familiar with Red Hood then you have no idea just how awesome he is! After being brutally murdered by The Joker, Jason Todd is resurrected in the Lazarus Pit, but the pit changes him and gives him a lust for blood. He attempts to kill all of the people who have wronged him, including The Joker who he beats with a crowbar. Fans have been wanting to see Jason Todd's Red Hood on the big screen for quite some time and I think that we will get it. In the set photos, we see what seems to be a flashback scene where Batman is chasing The Joker and Harley Quinn, many have speculated because The Joker murdered Batman's sidekick Jason Todd. So hopefully thats the case and we can get some Red Hood action in the future.
Anything is possible!
Anything is possible in today's day and age. While I have a lot of info that backs up Jason Todd not being The Joker, there is a bunch more information that points towards this theory being true. We really won't get a definitive answer until the film is actually released, so I guess we will wait and see. Hell, for all we know the reason we haven't seen Luke in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailers so far is because he is actually The Joker! Something to think about, man.
