As if the madness in Gravity Falls isn't enough, Bill just had to spread his insanity in the real world! There's too much weirdness to handle and so many questions to answer. Gravity Falls fans aren't happy with cliffhangers.
Gravity Falls' first part of "Weirdmageddon" premiered on October 26, 2015 on Disney XD. For everyone else who hasn't seen it, brace yourselves. Weirdmageddon. Is. Weird.
It's the end of the world for Gravity Falls! Or is it?
"Weirdmageddon" sure contains bizarre stuff that nobody would expect in the apocalypse (in this case, the odd-pocalypse): monsters, eye-bats, bubbles of pure madness, etc. Here are some questions that are yet to be answered (hopefully) in "Weirdmageddon Part 2":
(Spoiler alert! Don't read ahead if you haven't seen Weirdmageddon Part 1!)
How come everyone from the Mystery Shack was not affected by the weirdness wave?
The weirdness wave turns everything it touches weird. When it passed through Soos' abuelita's house, abuelita turned into a chair! So how come Soos didn't mutate into something inexplicable? Come to think of it, Soos wasn't the only one unaffected.
In the bell tower scene, Ford and Dipper were preparing to perform a sneak attack on Bill. When the weirdness wave passed through the tower, the bell came alive- causing Ford to lose his focus and miss his one and only shot of sending Bill back to the rift.
The weirdness wave made the bell alive, so how come Ford and Dipper weren't affected? There's also Grunkle Stan:
The weirdness wave turned Gompers into a giant goat but not Stan. So why? The only thing all of the unaffected characters have in common is that they're all part of the Mystery Shack.
Most probable answer: The shield protecting everyone in the Mystery Shack might have rubbed off on them.
In "The Last Mabelcorn" episode, we found out that Ford was developing a shield that would protect all of them in the Mystery Shack from being possessed by Bill. With the shield activated, Bill wouldn't be able to enter their minds. In the end credits clip of that episode, Bill overheard Ford's plan. Seeing that he wouldn't get near anyone in the Mystery Shack, he chose to control the other residents of Gravity Falls instead- as we've seen in "Dipper and Mabel vs. The Future", Bill possessed Blendin the time officer's body to get the rift from Mabel.
The shield Ford activated must've made them immune to all of the kinds of madness that Bill came up with.
Where has Stan run off to?
Stan was last seen running for his life after Gompers mutated into a giant goat. He might be hiding in the Mystery Shack, but who knows? We're yet to find that out in Part 2.
Why leave the rift open?
Bill's already got everything he wanted from his world over to Gravity Falls, so why keep it open? If he has truly gained control over Gravity Falls then why couldn't he close the rift to make sure he won't be going back? We all know that the rift is the portal from Bill's world to the human world. Leaving it open means that he could come back and forth from the two dimensions, so why keep it open if he wanted to take over the human world? Also, why keep his castle near the rift?
Most probable answer: Bill might be getting his source of power from the rift.
Ford mentioned that the only possible way of stopping all the madness is to send Bill back to the rift. If that is the solution to stopping weirdmageddon, then why would Bill leave it wide open if there was a possibility he could get sucked back in?
Bill gets his powers from the rift. Although it might also be his weakness, Bill would still take the risk of leaving it wide open so he can have stronger powers.
What's going to happen now that the journals are gone?
The journals were always the answer to all the weird things in Gravity Falls. Without the journals, no one would be able to make sense of the supernatural events. Now that Bill burned all three journals and turned Ford into his golden back scratcher, what's in it for Dipper, Mabel, and all the residents of Gravity Falls?
Mabel is the key?
Dipper and Mabel are mere mortals so why would Bill keep Mabel in chains? Why would he have Gideon protect the bubble Mabel's in? In the earlier scenes, Bill easily took care of Dipper. Dipper's not a threat anymore now that the journals are gone, so what makes Mabel different?
Most probable answer: Mabel's imagination would put an end to Bill's domination.
Over the seasons, we've learned that Mabel is also Dipper's voice of reason. Mabel reminds Dipper that he doesn't need the journals to save the day- this was proven in season 1's finale, "Gideon Rises", when Gideon took Journal #3 from Dipper and they still managed to survive.
The Mystery Twins wouldn't be saving the day without the other twin. As Dipper said:
Wendy: You've beaten Bill twice before, why is this time any different?
Dipper: Because then I had Mabel...
Dipper and Mabel together have always foiled Bill's plans before. Dipper, a smart logical kid, couldn't defeat Bill alone. He would need to "think weird" to match up to Bill's insanity- that's where Mabel comes in. Mabel's the crazy one of the mystery twins. Her wild imagination allows her to think of all possibilities that anyone wouldn't think possible. With Mabel's imagination and Dipper's logic combined, nothing is impossible. Once Dipper saves Mabel, it's the end of Bill's reign as we know it; but that's only the general explanation. There's more to the mystery twins than we think there is.
What's going to happen now?
No one knows. This is Gravity Falls we're talking about, anything's possible. One thing's for sure. Most of the answers are in "Weirdmageddon Part 2"!
