Happy Halloween, Evil Dead fans! We know you can never get enough of Bruce Campbell and sawed-off shotguns, so Starz has already renewed Ash vs. Evil Dead for a second season—four days before its premiere!
Even with impressive buzz and the never-say-die combo of Campbell and producer Sam Raimi (the masterful director behind the 1981 classic), it's still shocking to see a show get another full-season order before the first season has even made it to air!
I guess that's what we call ash-tonishing.
Horror fans have been anticipating the show for months now, which sees Campbell reprising his seminal role as Ash Williams. Though he's always been a badass survivor, Ash vs. Evil Dead presents the evil-killer as a nearly over-the-hill sweet-talker who's definitely not too old to wield his classic chainsaw hand.
As if all these factors aren't enough of a draw, Lucy Lawless is joining the fray. And who doesn't want to see this dangerous duo taking out some nefarious baddies? Best of all, we can rest assured that we'll get at least two seasons, as managing director of Starz, Carmi Zlotnik put it:
One season isn’t enough to satisfy the fans’ two decade-long appetite for more Ash. The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can’t end with season one.
Long live Ash!
