Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie infamously sizzled on the big screen 10 years ago in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and the now-married duo are set to reunite on screen in November with the release of By the Sea.

Speaking to V Magazine, Pitt dished all about the film, which not only stars Jolie, but was also written and directed by her as well:

"The plan was to make something together, with complete autonomy, in the footsteps of Gena [Rowlands] and John [Cassavetes]—and keep it a family affair. We, by our own admission, were overdue. If I’m going to work, I want to work with my wife."
“By the Sea deals with that period when the honeymoon is well over and the couple is faced with the banality of every day and the pains of the unplanned. There are no Hallmark cards that define the next chapter, or the value of a history together. So who are you?”

Pitt also revealed that far from any on-set tensions resulting from Jolie being in the hot seat, he actually loved the whole process:

"[It’s] surprising how much I enjoy the direction of my wife. She’s decisive, incredibly intuitive, knife-sharp, and might I say, sexy at her post. I trust her with my life."

But naturally, seeing a partner put so much of their heart and soul into a project, there was a little pressure to make sure the whole thing was done exactly right:

"Naturally I didn’t want to fail Angie’s ideas. . .her words., but really I had absolute faith we’d figure it out."

Aw! After seeing these two raising a family together, and seeing Pitt support Jolie following her medical ups and downs over the last few years, I have no doubt that By the Sea will reflect their excellent relationship.

By the Sea will be released in cinemas on November 13th
