According to Marvel's official website, the third installment of the Marvel franchise Thor: Ragnarok will be starting pre-production in Queensland, Australia in January 2016 and will start filming June 2016. It's kind of ironic that it will be filmed in Australia when the main character is played by the Australian Chris Hemsworth.
“This is a huge win for Queensland and I am thrilled that Thor will be filming exclusively in our state,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
“As our economy diversifies, Queensland is demonstrating its strength as a lead destination for filmmakers both internationally and locally, and my government is doing what it can to ensure that Queensland remains a global hub for the screen sector.
“The production will spend more than $100 million AUD in Queensland and will employ over 750 Queensland crew.”
“Queensland offers an amazing and diverse backdrop for 'Thor: Ragnarok' and we are very excited to bring this film to such an incredible locale. Marvel Studios would like to thank the Queensland Government for helping to make this a reality,” said Louis D’Esposito, Co-President of Marvel Studios.
One of the locations where they will be filming in Queensland is Village Roadshow Studios at the Gold Coast. That studio also was the filming location for many movies such as San Andreas, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Ghost Ship and so many more.
With the success of the first 2 films, Thor and Thor:The Dark World, I'm sure this film will be just as good! The film is set to be released in the U.S. on November 3, 2017. It may seem far away, but in the mean time other Marvel movies will be released, such as Captain America: Civil War (May 6, 2016), and Doctor Strange (Nov. 6, 2016).
