A new film out by Neill Blomkamp, who is slowly becoming probably one of the most unique mainstream directors of the 2010's, is about a robot being programmed with the option of making individual choices. The main character is Deon Wilson (Dev Patel), who is a young man that is living in the crime ridden area in South Africa. While working at weapons defense company, Deon has created an army of law enforcement robots. Deon, however, would like to continue the work on his robots so that they will be able to create their own decisions. After a series of trial and error, Deon is successful, but unfortunately his robot falls into the wrong hands. The robot is eventually named Chappie, and begins to learn at an accelerated rate, to the point where he figures out how to take the consciousness out of, not just an A.I. robot, but out of an organic being as well. The film is considered to be Science Fiction, but it deals with matters that are currently being studied in the world of science, which is actually quite refreshing. The movie was amazingly done, and accurately deals with the human nature that people encounter in a cut-throat corporate setting. The human nature of how we learn lessons through life is displayed in the film, and it deals with what it would like for us if we were learn it all in a very short amount of time. The movie is mostly based on theory of what if, but it is extremely entertaining to watch, which is intriguing to watch. Awesome film, strongly recommend to all Sci-Fi fans.
