This week's episode of Arrow left us shocked. It was more of an episode of all the individual characters and things they had to sacrifice and what not. Now one thing that hasn't been dealt with well enough was Sara going a bit nuts.
We saw clearly that the lazarus pit has effects, did you see Thea? She went crazy and we were expecting this right? While season three was airing producer Marc Guggenheim had an interview with Hollywood Report and hinted the side effects. This is what he had to say.
Everything in the show has consequences, and that's something we've been consistent about," says Guggenheim. "It's something you will continue to see not just through the end of season three, but into season four...
I was guessing maybe Thea wouldn't be herself, like Roy wasn't in early season three because of him thinking he killed Sara but Thea went crazy! Did you see what she did to Oliver? Now the thing here is Thea was only dead for around a day or two and we saw how deadly the side effects were but Sara has been dead for roughly more than a year so it's no doubt the side effects will be more deadly.
Constantine will be appearing in Arrow
That's why we will be needing are charming friend John Constantine. Fans will recognize John from the cancelled show Constantine. There was a huge movement towards Constantine being canceled. Fans came together, pleading NBC to bring back that show we once loved. Unfortunately, we didn't get it. Matt Ryan, who portrayed the Hellblazer tweeted a little message for fans.
Sad news. Thank you #Hellblazers for your support u truly r the best, and thank you to everyone involved in the show. Memories made forever. Very disappointed that we are not continuing this journey, will miss playing john. You guys never gave up, I thank you all #Constantine.
At the CWs Television Critics Assn it was announced Constantine will be making an appearance on the show. Fans were over the moon to see him on the small screen again and Producer Marc Guggenheim expressed his excitement for his appearance by saying:
We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of ‘Arrow.’ Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired. The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show this season has provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to ‘Arrow’ and the CW’s DC universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the ‘Constantine’ fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series.
Magic in Arrow
Magic is something we would of never seen in season one, but the show developed and grew so much something like magic will happen in the show. When Ra's Al Ghul was revealed as the villain we did expect some magic since he uses the lazarus pit so he never ages.
So we developed the fact that there will be a lazarus pit and it became a big part of the storyline. With Olivers deal so she can go in the lazarus pit and now Sara going in, we can understand that magic will play a part in Arrow.
Why will he be needed
Sara doesn't possess her own soul. In season 4, episode 3, Malcolm establishes the fact that when you go in the pit you will have every attribute from everyone who has ever gone into the pit. Damien Darkh also tells Lance that Sara may look like his daughter but she doesn't posses the soul.
Producer Wendy Mericle told Variety that Johns storyline will be around resurrecting Sara and this is what she had to tell them.
We knew Sara was coming back and we wanted to have her soul… she needed to be resurrected, and even in the world of the comic books, he’s the guy to do it. We weren’t sure it was all going to work out, but DC was very generous and Matt Ryan’s schedule worked out and we’re very excited
In the promo for Arrow's next episode, 'Haunted,' it explains a bit more why he will be needed. Watch it for yourselves.
So just how excited are you to see Constantine in Arrow? Fans still have hope if this episode is successful, maybe CW can pick it up. It makes sense, right, I mean I don't want to make Supernatural fans sad, but if this is their last season it would only make sense for them to pick it up. It could be a replacement for it.
