The Vision is our newest Avenger. He's the one that we know the least about and he's easily the most powerful hero on Cap's team of New Avengers. The Vision even has a coveted Infinity Stone in his forehead that runs his android systems. He's one of my favorite comic book characters, and I believe going forward he's going to be a huge and important part of the MCU! He kicked some serious ass in [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](tag:293035) and was even our hero who finally killed the villain!

What's going to happen with the six Infinity Stones?

Who possesses the six Infinity Stones?
Who possesses the six Infinity Stones?

We know from several MCU films that the Titan Thanos is searching for the six stones to put them into the Infinity Gauntlet to, supposedly, destroy all life in the universe. We've only seen four of the six stones so far, but even those four aren't anywhere close to each other.

Even though we first saw the tesseract way back in Captain America: The First Avenger, and we know it's now in Asgard in Odin's vault -- but with Loki impersonating Odin he's now in control of the tesseract. Could this have been part of Thanos's plan all along? I doubt it. I believe that Loki faked his death and is impersonating Odin partly because he's afraid of what happens if the mad Titan finds him! Loki believes he failed Thanos in Avengers and now he's hoping Thanos believes him to be dead. It was just a plus that he's now the reigning King of Asgard.

We saw the second stone, the aether, in Thor: the Dark World and Thor's buddies take it to Nowhere (the skull shaped space station from Guardians). They gave it to the Collector to keep it safe, and said that with the tesseract in Asgard it was dangerous to keep two infinity stones so close together. In Guardians of the Galaxy, we saw the Collector's museum destroyed. We know the stones are extremely powerful, so it's unlikely it was destroyed, and we can assume it's still in the Collector's possession until we are told otherwise. Is the Collector working for Thanos, or for himself, or is he a hero trying to keep the stones safe? Why did the Asgardians trust him with such an important object?

Orb

In Guardians of the Galaxy the third stone was found by Star-Lord inside a temple, completely unguarded. Why was this stone there, where just anyone could take it? Quill did just that, and the stone ended up falling into the possession of Ronan the Destroyer and he almost destroyed the planet Xandar with it. The Guardians leave the stone with Xandar's Nova Corps. However, this planet and all the people were destroyed in the comics and my theory is that we'll see this happen in either Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 or Avengers: Infinity War, Part I. We need to see Thanos in action in order to understand that he's as a menacing villain; we need his threat of death to be real. Thanos could bust in there to take the stone and destroy all life on the planet. Xandar is already a planet we're familiar with, our characters are familiar with it as well, so there are emotional ties to its destruction. It would make the Infinity War movies more dire as the destruction of Xandar could also happen to Earth. We'd also get another hero out of its destruction: Nova. Rhomann Dey was the final member of the Nova Corps in the comics after his planet was destroyed, so he went to Earth and before dying gave his power to a teenager who took the code name Nova.

The fourth stone that we're aware of is right here on Earth. It's in the Vision's forehead, it's what powers his android body. Unfortunately for us, fans the Vision will most likely be destroyed as Thanos will need all six stones for the gauntlet. We know Vision's stone used to be in Loki's scepter and we know that Loki received the scepter from Thanos, so it's likely that Thanos is fully aware of who is in possession of it, and where they are.

Thor is also hunting for the Infinity Stones

Thor: The Dark World
Thor: The Dark World

At the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor leaves Earth and the Avengers to hunt down who is making pawns of them. Thor is aware that four of the six stones have surfaced in recent years and he wants to know why. This also means that Thor is aware of the events that transpired in Guardians of the Galaxy. With Thor headed back to Asgard where his brother is impersonating their father (and possibly killed him) it'll be very interesting to see what happens between these two. Where exactly does Loki fall in his allegiances to Thanos? Will he give up the stone in the Asgard vault to the Mad Titan? How long until Thor realizes that Loki is not dead but on the throne? Thor: Ragnarok is going to be an amazing addition to the underrated Thor trilogy, and even more so now that we have confirmation that it's going to be a team-up movie with Thor and the Hulk! Is it too much to hope that Vision gets thrown into the mix, too? It would make so much sense that if Thor is on the hunt for these Infinity Stones, he would use Vision to help him out. With access to the stone, it's conceivable that Vision knows more about their existence than anyone, other than Thanos himself.

Captain America: Civil War

With [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409) as the next film in the MCU, the speculation on this film has been huge! Will Captain America, or another Avenger, die? What will happen to the fractured Avengers team and what long-lasting effects will it leave on the MCU?

You can see in this promotional art the sides for the Superhero Civil War have already been chosen. On team Iron Man we have Black Panther, Black Widow, War-Machine and Vision. On Captain America's side we have Hawkeye, Winter Soldier, Falcon, Agent 13 and Ant-Man. One of the biggest questions though is, is anyone a double agent, or will someone switch sides halfway through war? There is a lot of speculation that Black Widow is, in fact, a double agent for Captain America's team, and it would make sense because those two have as strong a relationship as she does with Hawkeye, who's also on Cap's team. Widow also seems like someone who understands why S.H.I.E.L.D. no longer exists, she sees that it was corrupt and had too much power and was under no scrutiny, which further pushes the belief that she would be against a formal registry like the Superhuman Registration Act.

Rumor has it another character may be switching sides halfway through the war: Vision. He was created in part by Stark, but he said in Avengers: Age of Ultron that he's on the side of life. I believe that this will come back into play as Vision sees how Stark is viciously hunting down Cap's team. One thing that could help bring this into play is the Scarlet Witch, who does not appear in the released concept art, but we know will be appearing in the film. What if she's captured early on and is held in a superhuman cell by Stark? If Vision is in part responsible for the prison, we could see some awesome interaction between him and the Witch. I know I'm not alone in hoping for a romance between these two! They were together for a long time in the comics, and even got married and had children! I feel it was teased near the end of Age of Ultron when Vision rescued her from the exploding city of Sokovia.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2

If by the end of the Civil War, the Witch has been killed, or Vision is just simply disgusted by humanity. But what if he left Earth? Could we see him join the Guardians in their sequel? Vision could even leave Earth and never join the Guardians, but instead run into the Collector, Nebula or even Thanos himself. Thanos could easily capture him and he could unite with the Guardians to thwart Thanos's plan! We know that Quill's alien father is going to be a part of this sequel, and he has ties with Earth, so what if he and Vision somehow met? We don't know if even Vision realizes how valuable that stone in his forehead is. I believe he does, but we have yet to know how far his knowledge of the stones goes. The only problem with Vision leaving Earth is that there will be no Infinity Stones on Earth for Thanos to come after, so none of the Avengers would have a chance to run into him, unless one of the missing two stones appears on Earth also.

New Spider-Man

Tom Holland as Spider-Man
Tom Holland as Spider-Man

One of our newest heroes in the MCU is going to be Spider-Man. I know I wasn't alone in the disappointment of Andrew Garfield being cast aside and Spider-Man being rebooted for a third time in a decade. But I do believe that Marvel and Sony have a plan for this amazing character going forward! I'm hoping that they've signed Holland for more films than they did with Chris Evans or Robert Downey Jr. This and the fact that Holland is so young make me believe that after our "anchors" of Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor are gone from the MCU we'll have Spider-Man as our lead. This will be easy for audiences to accept because he's already a fan favorite!

We know Holland will be appearing in some sort of fashion in Captain America: Civil War next year, but we know he won't be a huge part of the story. Marvel is using this film to introduce him as existing, but it won't be until 2017 that we get his solo film. I'm also very excited that this film will not be an origin story. We've seen that twice and we don't need to see it again! Spider-Man will no doubt connect to the ongoing MCU, probably with cameos and sidekick characters that already have been introduced. Ant-Man and the Vision are my top two choices! I think Ant-Man and Spider-Man would have some serious hilarity, but I think the Vision would be the stronger choice as a balance to Parker's humor. The Vision is a very serious character who does not understanding humor or humanity, and these two could make a very fun film as a duo because of their completely opposite personalities! It could be easy to introduce Vision into Spider-Man, especially if they do both meet somewhere during the Civil War.

Vision

Some of these aren't original ideas; we all heard the Hulk rumors for Age of Ultron, and I more than expected them to be true. Hulk was expected to be heading off world at the end of the sequel, which would make a lot of sense, not only to connect the expanding universe, but for the character. Banner was devastated by Hulk's actions in Africa, so it would make sense for him to leave the planet to take himself away from the possibility of hurting people. These Vision rumors and thoughts are just the hopes of a nerdy guy wanting a great character to become a huge part of the MCU! I'm secretly hoping for a rom-com film focusing on Vision and the Scarlet Witch! I think that would be really fun! The Vision has been one of my favorite characters since I began reading comics almost twenty years ago, I was so excited to see him portrayed in Age of Ultron. Excited for his return in Civil War and excited to see him become an integral part of the MCU going forward!
