Leonardo DiCaprio is probably one of the greatest actors of all time. Yes, that's right! He's received a total of 136 nominations, winning 34 awards—alas, has never taken home the much coveted Oscar.
Though, there's a lot of talk surrounding Leo's next movie, The Revenant, and how it may just be the film to do it for him. This would be fantastic and well deserved. Really, he should have won the gold already.
So, check out my top six picks from Leo's catalog that he should have won an Oscar for! Tell me what you think in the comments below.
1. What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993)
Probably one of my brother and I's favorite movies of all time, Gilbert Grape is a grand piece of art. Leonardo really took his acting to a whole new level with his character Arnie. If you haven't seen it, then you need to! Hey, you also get to see a pretty young Johnny Depp... so, why not?
2. Titanic (1997)
This is the biggest no brainer right here. The one movie that really got his career going steady. Good enough reason to use "going steady?"
For the real fans of Titanic - Jack could've fit on that door!
3. The Departed (2006)
This movie just makes you stop in your tracks and think: "What the hell did I just watch?" And it was a great film!
4. Shutter Island (2010)
This is literately a such a no brainer it hurts. If you haven't seen Shutter Island, then you must fix this hole in your life as soon as humanly possible. It is super suspenseful and a constant edge-of-your-seat thrill ride. An awesome piece of art.
5. Inception (2010)
From the great mind of Christopher Nolan came an adventurous maze so great I'm not sure it'll ever be figured out. It was another grand movie that had you as inside the tale as the characters themselves. And where was Leo's Oscar for such a masterpiece?
6. Django Unchained (2012)
I loved this. In fact, everyone loves this! If you haven't seen Django Unchained, then you're about to love it, too. Yep. Just wait. DiCaprio doesn't have a starring role, but he doesn't need one with a performance this great. This is definitely worthy of being on the list.
Here's some other great contenders that deserve a shoutout:
The Great Gatsby
The Wolf of Wall Street
What do you think of my choices? Do you agree? Which other movies should Leo have won an Oscar for?
